Moses Lake Question

Featured Replies

I'm lookin to head over to Moses Lake in the middle of April for some bass fishing, hear its a great lake and was just wondering if anyone could share their wisdom with me. It would be greatly appreciated!!

-What are the bass doing this time of the year?

-Where should I focus on the lake?

-What are hot lures for the lake?

Wish I could help.  It's been a long time since I fished it, and I've only fished it in the fall.  And April?  Man, it's still icy/snow over there, believe it or not.  But, if you're going to be there, I'd go to Potholes instead and focus on the Linde Coulee area for smallies.  :)

I appreciate the reply Glenn! Unfortunately I don't have the chance to go to potholes instead, because the tourney i fish in is at Moses. I do have a tournament later on in the more productive season at potholes. I am new to the area so I need all the help I can get!!!

           Thanks again,

Hey Loon....One thing I've found about Moses is it is very fickle with cold fronts.....one day you can have a great pattern and the next not touch a fish.

I had a tourney there in 2006 where I had five fish day one for 2.54 lbs and day two weighed 17.2 lbs for the comeback win.

Heres what worked for me.....

Slow rolled spinner bait....White...if possible 1/2 oz. panted willow leaf blades....very slow near rocky areas....The light house flat is a good place for this....interchange with a dropshot if the fish get lazy....if there are dinks on the flat move to the edge near deeper water.....

Drop shot and Carolina rigging. If you look at a map...Hwy 17 comes within view from the lake...on the water is is a steep slope....These rigs work great here near wood and rock slides....fish will pre-post spawn on this slope and then move to the other side of the lake near the Red Barrels.....watch for the wing dams there as they will tear up you lower unit.....look for earlt spawners there......Hope this helps!! watch for low water levels as they fill potholes early! Enjoy and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for that in depth report!! Exactly what I was looking for!!

Also forgot Firetiger Spinnerbait if the White one does not work.

I like the Red River and Strike King brands.
