Well guy i went fishng today at lake casitas and wound up holding an 8lb bass. This is my first bass over 5 lbs so i was shocked...honestly the shore fishing is gettin better than from a boat.... i was fishing for some sunfish with my crappie combo and say a biggun chasing a sunny so my dad cought the sunny and i nose nose hooked it with 14 lb florocarbone... then the toilet flushed and i felt a tug so i ripped into that sucker, bam got an 8 lbr in in less than 10 seconds...best of all the sunfish actualy flopped out of her mouth and swam away. THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE :D :D

wait wait wait how the %$#@ is that illegal...people use shad all the time to catch big bass why not a sunfish :-?

Because a sunfish is considered a gamefish. In the state of California, you may not use a gamefish for bait in freshwater, except for the Sacramento River Delta.

Shad arent gamefish.

Since you didnt realize, I'll apologize for the tone of the first post. Congrats on your PB, just use shad next time

Have fished Casitas, some big fish. Went with a friend and hooked a 5 pounder while he caught a 11 pounder off a submerged hump near the center of the lake.

You have to constantly keep up with Cali rules they make them up in the middle of the season in some cases.

man everytime ive fished castias i havnt caught anything... and i live like 30mins away... i got about 2 to 3 times a month,..

some dude at my local pond was using baby bass as bait and i pushed hime in is that illegal???  

Casitas is one of those lakes that when it is good it is great but if that wind kicks up...it's over. Casitas is a great lake for bed fishing. All of the big fish i have caught have come from there.
