Alright well ive lived in reno my whole life and ive figured out there aint much bass here and they dont grow very big a five pounder is definately a wall hanger for nevada your best chance is at mason valley ponds where there are five pounders there are very few largemouths in lahotan although i did catch a 15 inch smallmouth there earlier this year but dont get your hopes down you'll catch some also learn to trout fish there is plenty of them around i woul reccomend a golf course where i fish but its kinda my secret sorry but look around you'll catch some just be patient

Reno is only about 1-1:30 from where I'm at. We have a couple of smaller lakes that have some ok bass fishing, but  we are only another hour or so from some larger lakes and the CA delta. It would mean another license for CA, but there is some fishing around here. I also will often stay home if I can't fill the back seat, so....

Of course you will also have to pass a couple dozen great trout lakes on the way.
