Use the search function here on the forum.  You'll find that some love the Evolution jig, and some don't like it at all.

It has it's pro's and con's in like any other jig. At one point it was the only jig in my bag. Then I stopped using it all together and my numbers went down along with my confidence. After giving it a second chance to prove itself it's now my first choice for open water and my bag is restocked.

Where can you buy them, are they online only or are they sold in retail stores?

i believe they are available at retail stores like BPS, but if you buy them online using the BassResource.com link to the site, BR gets a little something extra. buy online and support this great site!

you can find the link here... http://www.bassresource.com/fish/advertisers.html

or go right to the source @ http://www.megastrike.com or http://www.evolutionlures.com

i'm personally a fan of the evolution jig. haven't been able to use them much since g'ville but i did catch my PB on one down there last week!

I am all for supporting the sponsors on this website, two reasons I like buying from a store though, one is I like to actually see the product in person.  Sometimes colors on line look different in person.  Secondly, I really hate paying for shipping on something if I can buy it retail without the shipping.

I almost feel guilty buying som much from BPS when I know that if I had bought through the link on BR, some of the money comes back to the site, but with a BPS only 15 minutes from my house, I refuse to pay shipping unless I have to.

understandable. i won't buy a rod or reel sight unseen (unless it's one i've used and already know the feel/shape/weight/etc. of and know that's what i want...) so i see where you're coming from.

keep in mind a lot of the sponsors of the site offer discounts and will usually hook you up if you support them through here. i know brent from *** and the guys at karu lures have gone out of their way to help out members of the site. not sure about the megastrike crew but it couldn't hurt to find out, right?

you'll like that evo jig regardless, whether you buy it online or in-store.

my opinion on the evo jig

goods

1. always stands up no matter what

2 great weed gaurd

3. Sharp hook

4. good around rocks or hard bottoms

5 nice colors

bad

Becareful a Dick's the ones around here still have the old model w/the 40lb weedgaurd. Best to get them through this site w/the 70lb weedgaurd;)

Wondering why the EVO only comes in black in 3/16 and 5/16 but not the heavier models?

Also wondering how one would go about changing skirts? I have had a heck of a time attempting this.

ok so they just came and they look great and im going to try them out this weekend.

I got black/blue in 3/8

green pumpkin 3/8

and

blue/purple/black in 7/16

and pbandj 5/16

im used to 3/8 weight, only because thats all i ever used and the lighter ones are "finess" models

so when would u use finess over the heavier ones and do u work them differently? Basically i dont know what to do with the finess ones i mean dont give me the response work them with finess ;)  lol

they are great jigs when they are used right. quality made.

My understanding of "Finess fishishing" would be smaller more subtle approach for spooky and or highly pressured fisheries.
