Diamond Valley Lake, CA

Featured Replies

I'm fairly new to bass fishing and I'm planning on renting a boat there next week with a buddy. Never been there and don't know the lake.

Where are good spots to try(depth, area, etc)?

and what rigs/lures are catching bass?

I've got some baby flukes, yum dingers, 4.5" roboworms, baby brush hogs, lizards, a few cranks, and spinners to try out. Any particular bait that kills it out there?

If I see a boil of stripper I know I'm gonna throw something at them, maybe pick up a big trout swim bait or a buzzbait or something.

Tips or suggestions welcome :)

Early morning..try the points with a top water, spook ect..

Both dams are good for fish..as are the points, BUT it depends if they have spawned yet..I haven't heard any reports lately. DVL is 90 % rocks..a 4.5" roboworm on a dropshot is almost a sure thang..

I would ask some of the guys in the office when you go to pick up your boat, but don't believe everything, also, ask the dock workers, as they usually hear about fish caught first hand.

Colors of plastic's ...purples seem to work well, i.e. Margarita Mutaltor, Morning Dawn..really anything with purple in it..

I would also throw your baby flukes on a scrounger head, or just flyline them.

One thing to always be aware of, the DVL fish spook really easy, so sneak up to your spots, and try to be quiet.
