My girl 'n fishin

Featured Replies

I don't know about you fellas but when i take my girl out fishin, it's somethin else.  I spend a lot more time talkin and tien' more knots than i normally would and she ALWAYS outfishes me!  We went out this weekend with her parents and we were throwin some YUM smoke 'n pearl worms and Kreature baits and she slammed like an 18 inch female full of eggs all fat and what not.  But i must admit the smile on her face when she caught that fish was a sight in itself.  She of cource has bragging rights forever now, but i assure her that it'll be different next time... but i really just like how she has fun doing what i love so much, anybody elses lady fun to fish with?

I married the most wonderful woman on the face of the planet 37 years ago.  She is still my best friend  and my True Love.  Unfortunately,  she is a very fair-complected redhead and cannot tolerate the sun.  In our younger years, we got outdoors together by going snow-skiing, but those days are in the past.  I love to fish, but she has never shown the slightest interest in it.  I know it's because she knows that she needs to stay out of the sun.

I'VE TAUGHT EVERY GIRL IN THE LAST 20 YRS TO FISH AND SOME STILL DO. :)

Mike,

There may be hope for you yet... My wife also cannot be out much, she is so fair she'll burn in as few as 15 minutes.  I intruduced her to fishing clothing... the Columbia SPF 30, 40 and 50.  She resisted at first but once she tried it once, she saw the value.  She wasn't much for the "fashion" of my clothes but we found some "cute" columbia SPF stuff (her word, not mine) at a Sports Authority one day and she got a couple outfits to be on the boat in.  It's still not high fashion in her mind, but she learned how to t-rig a couple weeks ago on a bright 90 degree day (caught a dink and then a 3-14 PB the first day!) and has decied that worm fishing is pretty cool.  She has now claimed my Fuego and requested that I build her, her own worm rod.   :)  I'll gladly honor that request!!

Maybe your wife can give it a try...

my gf likes it a bit, more ocean fishing but she will go for bass shes just very impatient and doesnt like going at the crack of dawn like i do. last time i had her out on the lake i cought a couple small fish thruought the day then a little while before we leave she lands a 4-5lb pike. quite a smile but she still never took to it. oh well

I could never understand why guys teach their wives/grifriends to fish.

I mean what do you do when you need to get away from her for awhile?

AMEN brother!  i love her to death, but c'mon...there has to be a place for me to go w/out the ladies.

Wife and I went last night in the pit behind our house.  I caught two over 5# in the first 15 minutes on a buzz bait.  She was getting kinda ticked off untill she put on a tiny torpedo.  She kicked my butt the last 2 hours.  By the way, that is a good thing.  Beats the heck out of going to the Mall or Wally World. :)

I started dating my wife when we were both 16 yrs old.  I started taking her fishing with me then and she still goes with me today, She is not in to it as much as I am but she likes to be out on the boat fishing rod in hand kicking my butt.  I am trying to talk her into learning how to use a baitcaster so far she is not really interested in it.  But I really enjoy taking my wife fishing and now we take our 5yr old son out togther and make it truly a family affair.

Matt

Flechero, thanks for the heads up on clothing for the wife.  I ran this info past her in hopes that she would decide to go fishing with me.  Her response was.  "Hon, I don't like fishing.  Fish stink and they are slimy."

It looks like I'll be fishing alone to the end of my days.  I was very happy to hear those words come from her mouth.   ;D

You dog.

You get all those points for asking.

I can honestly say that my fiance has given it a number of tries and still will go on a rare occasion .. I enjoy her company and yes I still have the quiet times when I wanna spend some quiet time on the water...

I'd say I got pretty lucky in us finding each other...
