Getting paint off brick or cement

Featured Replies

Any of you guys have an idea about how to get rid of paint that has dripped onto brick/cement?  Daddy and I were painting the house and some paint dropped on the brick wall.

Painting is such a pain.

Thanks guys.

Probably going to take some elbow grease  I would try thinner and a wire brush.

Pressure cleaner.....if it's on a smooth surface then you can scrape it up with a razor blade or scraper.

What kind of paint? You can start with a pressure washer. You may need muratic acid.

If it is oil based paint and just drops you might let it dry good and try wire brush. If it is a large place, call local paint store and ask them. Sorry no more help than that :-[ but I do know it is a REAL pain in the arse to clean...

Pressure washer sounds about right.  Watch how long you hold it in one place if it has much pressure.  I found out the hard way. :-[

If you end up going with muratic acid make sure you read the direction. If I remember correctly it's about a 1/2 cup to 5 gal. water.

+1 on that.  Please be extremely careful when your using the muratic acid.  it is very strong and if it's mixed wrong, will spit out and sizzle.  also, it can seriously burn your skin in just a few moments if it gets on you.  wear eye protection, and if possible, a respirator...it will choke you up good if you get to close to it
