I guess I could wait, but I'm not really into football and I am just WAY to fired up about the Billy Gillispie era to start in the bluegrass.

This is the article that was posted on CBS Sportsline:

It's been awhile since I highlighted the magnitude of Kentucky basketball. It's easy to forget in the offseason, when little is happening. But Monday offered a reminder in the form of an e-mail when the school announced tickets for Billy Gillispie's first official, unregulated practice will be available Sept. 29.

The best part?

Kentucky officials have asked that fans wishing to line up ahead of time to ensure seats please not do so until at least Sept. 26, meaning Kentucky officials expect fans will be lining up three days in advance to get tickets to a practice, and never mind that more than 23,000 seats will be available. Within hours, it's likely every ticket will be gone, which is truly a phenomenon unlike any other given how there are major universities that couldn't get 23,000 for a game if they were playing the No. 1 team in the nation.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats will get more than 23,000 for a practice.

On a Friday night.

At 9 p.m.

So yeah, Kentucky basketball fans are committed like no others.

If you don't believe me, just head to the ticket office Sept. 26 and watch the line develop.

It is a sad thing. I love college basketball and my college team is even in worse shape than my baseball team I am a ST.Johns fan first, a general Big East fan. We haven't stopped the slide since Jarvis had the team and I do not see any great improvement on the horizion. I do belive with the new alignment that in the next 3 to 5 years the Big East will be among the strongest confrences once again.

Lemme tell you a St. John's story.  About 25 years ago I was working in a store in Louisville, Kentucky talking with a friend about college basketball.  I commented that I hated how the press would rank northeastern teams like St. John's so high in the preseason for no apparent reason.

A very large man grabbed me from behind and advised me in no uncertain terms that he had graduated from St. John's and that they had won more post season games... blah, blah blah.  I figure there had to be no more than two or three St. John's grads in all of Louisville and I had to open my big mouth in front of one of it most rabid basketball fans.

I always look forward to some fan from another school that wants to talk about tradition. In fact, it makes me giddy. You may have noticed I'm a bit of a basketball snob.  8-) I'd love to talk to a St. John's fan. ;)

I love college B Ball, growing up in the heart of the ACC it  can get down right nasty during basketball season. Now I am not a Duke or UNC bandwagon fan, I was born and raised to pull for the NC State Wolfpack. We have some good teams everynow and then, but god I hate a bandwagon fan.

When we had Lou and his ugly sweaters at the helm we were a National Threat for many seasons. Before the current ACC,Sec and Big Ten  domination, with all those great programs and after the UCLA run The Big East did enjoy it's share of championships. No cause for any one laying hands on another though. The Big East has had great runs from St Johns,Georgetown,Seaton Hall,Providence and U Conn so by no means are the slouches!

Dude, the Jimmy Valvano "Never give up" speech makes me tear up every time.

Me too, what a coach and what a man.

Yeah, Jimmy V was one of the great ones. I just wish that at the end of his career he wouldn't have had the point shaving thing. Most remember him for the good, but there are some who won't let that go.

You just proved your own point :o
