BPS open on Thanksgiving Day

Featured Replies

I'm not quite sure what to think about stores being open on Thanksgiving Day. I was just looking at the Black Friday ads at http://bfads.net/adscans and see that Bass Pro Shops will be open at 8 a.m. Thursday.

I spent a long time in retail and am really glad that I never worked for anyone who did this to me.

I'm not quite sure what to think about stores being open on Thanksgiving Day..

I hate it!!!  That is one of my biggest pet peeves.  I once quit a job back in high school because they wanted me to work on Thanksgiving.  That's family time.  They are priority #1.

I feel the same about Christmas and even Mothers' and Fathers' Day.

I had the wonderful experience of working Thanksgiving day last year at Bass Pro Shops.  Nobody was there, and I had to eat lunch at a chinese resteraunt  ( the only place open ).  Geez I hate that place.  I think I've been there once since I stopped working there.  Go to local mom and pop tackle stores.  They carry more and actually have a soul.

I work one of those crap jobs that runs 24/7/365.  All I can say is that if you have to make people work on Thankgiving and Christmas days to be sucessful you are not much of a manager. :(

Ppl dont realize what our country has been through to be able to have the freedom of celebrating the major holidays >This is my take on it if a store is open it should not profit any company that is not AMERICAN owned and you shouldnt buy products if u do decide to shop on these days from any country that is our enemy or WAS our enemy or is affilated anyway with terrorist.now if i was President (LMAO Amagine that) id make it mandatory that anyone open on the major holidays let ppl off that WANT to be off with pay  without repurcussions.Lots of work to be done in America we need to make it better for US for a change

Companies are more interested in maximizing profits.   I think it's sad to say the least.

I am planning on going there early morning while my family sleeps in.  I will be there when they open, buy my stuff and come back just in time to start cooking side dishes to go with the turkey.  I have worked in the high tech industry where working holidays is the norm.  It all boils down to how much you need the job, I always got paid double time so it wasn't that bad.  I understand the family thing but I also understand the providing for my family thing.

I am with you RONDER Id like nothing more than to be off on every holiday but it like you said it that provideing for the family thing and I havent been able to talk the oil companies into shutting down durieng those times. we always celebrate holidays on my day off so its not that big of a deal.

Its all about the dollar, as it what stated before, family, reliegion, and tradition have taken a back seat to a little green piece of paper that just so happens to make the world go round.  :'(
