best basstrix KO?

Featured Replies

I have tried a few basstrix KOs and have not been impressed. Anybody have a good one they truly have sucess with. I just bought the money minnow at BPS, but have not tried it yet. any thoughts?

IMO the money minnow looks alot better than the bass magic but I haven't tried any yet. I haven't been too impressed with bass magic, I don't think they have that good of an action.

I have the bass magic swimbaits and actually just got home from fishin them. i use the 4.5 in size and it has worked miracles.. i caught about 15 bass and i was in a tournament this past saturday and the only thing that worked were them.. i got three in less then 20 min.. There is alot of hype about how no one likes them but i love them! and for the money minnow i have some but the belly comes down far so i cant find a hook that works right... but for me.. go bass magic! im ganna try the bigger sizes soon...

..... tight lines...

I like the money minnow. I've only used it twice, but have done well catching above average Largemouth and Smallmouth. They absoulutely crush this bait. Also have the bass magic, but haven't tried them yet.

None of the knock offs swim like the original straight out of the package and most of the weighted hooks being sold out there don't help the action any. But, after using Basstrix for a few years and suddenly not being able to get them anymore I have learned to modify the Shadalicious and Bass Magic to swim as good as if not better than the original and you get way more sizes to chose from. The Berkley one is the closest without modification and the Mattlures minnow swims great but is a different bait all together. I will post a modified bait with photos of how to do it sometime in the next couple of weeks since it seems like it's what everyone is looking for and I have had a few people ask me what I am doing different to make mine work.

Can't wait to see this...I have yet to try these baits but I always see the Fathead Jr. on sale @ ***. But these baits come in at almost a buck a piece. For that they better work wonders!

if you can find soft plastic swimbaits for a buck a piece you'd better jump all over those.

The Berkley Hollow Belly is bad to the bone.  I have been using the Bass Magic w/ little success and little confidence.  I have caught 5x more fish off of the Hollow Belly in the last few trips than the Bass Magic in a long time.  IMHO the Hollow Belly looks identical to the Basstrix (and from a few good sources they are very very similiar ;) )

a guy in my club told me that bassmagic is the same guy who made basstrix. he just sold the basstrix company, kinda like the way the guy who made the chatterbait sold his  company for big money. when a bait is hot, sell it while you can before the knockoffs come.

Not True.

I've done pretty good with the bass magics

I have tried the Fathead Jr and think its has some good action the few times I have thrown it. Had one bite and missed it!! But so far I am pleased with the action and will be throwing it more often now its warming up.

Bruce did not sell Basstrix. Money minnows sold to Yum or Zoom or something like that. Arent they about the same? Ha Ha.
