Transformer explodes! Yikes!

Featured Replies

It was really really rainy one day and me and my friend Sean where going catfishing. We pulled out of my driveway on bikes and turned left towards the lake. Just then, a transformer 3 telephone poles away from us blew up. The first thing I noticed during the very first instant was a blinding light (even though we had our backs towards it) and I felt this force go through me and heard a deafening zapping noise. I thought I got shot or somthing. I turned around and saw this ball of white light and sparks flying all over the place coming from the top of the pole. It was spectacular! This giant ball of energy contined to burn and you could hear the electricity zapping through the air as the whole street lost power. It was so loud I couldnt hear myself think. It sounded like an atomic frying pan cooking a slice of bacon the size of kansas. After a good solid 10 secconds of this, it blew up into a ball of flame and black smoke that shook the ground, making a even louder sound. Despite the downpour, the nearby tree caught on fire.

I tell you, it was a fine sight for sore eyes. It beat the forth of july by a country mile. I aint ever seen anything so amazing. It was like all the engery from a whole thunderstorm was jammed into a box along with some TNT and a few fireworks.

I found a video of this online: (Thats what reminded me of this, it happend to me a few months ago)\

The zapping noise is ALOT louder in real life, take my word for it.

I know better than to fool with that kind of stuff now. Stay as far away as possible from transformers on rainy days!

a couple of years ago we were in baltimore to see an orioles game even tho it wasnt a pretty day with storms on and off and we were stopped in traffic when one right in front of our car exploded, scared the livin crap outta me

I've seen this twice. Once on my way to work, In my rear view mirror. All I saw was a flash of light then a sound like a gunshot, and I noticed the pole was on fire. All the traffic lights went out. The other time I was fishing. Same thing, flash then it sounded like a gunshot.
