Kentucky Basketball, How Pathetic.

Featured Replies

Ok first and foremost I am really a Carolina fan, however my wife is from Lexington and UK is my second favorite team. With that being said, what the world is wrong with UK. They flat out suck this year. I have watched them get spanked by Carolina at Rupp arena, lose to Indiana in Bloomington, blow a 14 point lead at home to UAB, and then last night they were humiliated by Houston. The final score did not refelect how poorly they played. I know they have injuries but that is no excuse for poor play from the rest of the team. People in Lexington were quick to run Tubby Smith out of town, but I think what they got in return was even worse.I mean this guy runs two hour practices on game day, no wonder his players are tired. I feel for the fans because UNC went through same thing five years ago. Uk better get it together quick because Rick Petino is coming to town and he might bringing the Grinch to still Christmas >:(

Just my opinion

Sorry for such a long post.

How about those Cougars...It coulda and shoulda been much worse.UK fans beware of what you wish for. Prior coach is what? 7-1. Go figure. The idiots are running the program...Again...That's two(2,2,2) losses to C-USA in the last week. How far will they fall. I guess it is now a football school...LOL

That's what I was taliking about. I like Kentucky, unless they are playing Carolina, but that was sad. Houston should have beat them by 30 points and would have had they not gone to a stall offense. You are right, Tubby is 7-1 at a school that is not really a basketball school.

Being raised in KY from the time I was 1 yr old I bleed blue and love Wildcat basketball. So far this season is a big dissapointment and last night was pathetic. Billy G has a good track record though and hopefully will make the right adjustments over the next couple months to get the Cats back on track.

I don't know anything about your current roster (I assume they were recruited under Tubby), but give BCG some time and he'll have you guys back on top.  It will take the players time to understand that he plays defense first.  You might even see some go, but give him time to recruit some hardcore defenders and the team will improve.  To think that he would have come in and been a success this year was a little unrealistic.  It took him four or five years to get A&M where we are.  I hate to say it, but part of me wants to smile a little.  He kind of left us high and dry for "greener pastures".  It looks like his pastures need a little fertilizer right now.   :)

Understandable. And we're glad to have him.  ;D

I agree with you, it will take some time to make the adjustment and I think if he gets the time he'll do great. UK fans just have a very high standard when it comes to UK Bball. It's all we have and we don't have a lot of patience. We like to win.  ;D

UK is like Carolina. We do not expect anything less than championships. Just look at what we did to Matt Doherty, he went from winning 20 to lossing 20 in two seasons and we sent him packing. Losing is not tolerated in Lexington, KY or Chapel Hill, NC. Also, when Pitino came to UK there were not that good. Eddie Sutton had left the school in disarray and on probation, however Pitino did not lose 5 out of his first 9 games. I am not saying that Gillespie is bad coach. He may not be the right coach for UK.

I have a relative on the board of trustees at UK.  Believe me when I say that they are looking into replacing Gillespie if he doesn't get his act together.

In my opinion, I think UK will expect the next applicants to be nothing short of a clone to Adolph Rupp.   ;D  We need a good coach who doesn't abuse the players into winning.  It's college basketball, and not the NFL.

I went to LSU and we always wanted a basketball team like Kentucky.

We now have one.

Hey don't feel so bad, I am a St.Johns fan and that program could not have gotten any worse. When Jarvis got the team, he was so detrimental that we still haven't recouped, might not ever :-/

Wow...9 games into his tenure and you're thinking about firing him already???  Delusional much? :P

Yes, I was afraid of that when he left us for UK. To my knowledge, Tubby wasn't doing that bad of a job according to other school's standards was he?

He had it good here in Aggieland. He'll probably soon find that out soon, because, as you say, I don't think the UK faithful will give him more than a year or two.

yeah that's extreme. As much I want to see UK playing in March I would be totally against getting rid of him any time this season even the way they're playing now. You gotta give some time for transition. And making him feel like he might get run out of town is going to to help.

Kansas and that other school our ex coach went to should make pretty good progress on catching them on the all time win list in the next couple of years.

If you are talking about Carolina, we will probably do it either this year or next.
