I was given some good advice on some topwater frogs. In everyone's own opinon what are some good brands of frogs that consisently produce. Only ones that I have fished before were scumfrogs. Thanks for any help !!

I have both the Ragetail and the Spro frogs in my arsenal.  I went to BPS to buy some of the new Manns frogs but they do not stock them, I was told you have to buy those online.

i swear by 'em, shortly after (literally 10 minutes) i caught another big guy a pound smaller than that one, they're awesome on lilly pads and in grass, or duck weed, anything!

here's a tip cut one of the streamers and inch shorter than the other and it does an awesome 'walk the dog' action, even in the scum

keep cutting until it walks as much as you want

soft plastic frog--1. horny toad 2. cane toad

hollow body frog--1. swamp donkey 2. snag proof bobby's perfect

and i did not design any of those listed above.

I have not tried the Rage Tail frog yet, but have some and will give my opinion when I finally get to wet them...

I have tried all of the others, and my favorites are:

In Soft Plastic:  the Gambler Cane Toad and the Sizmic Toads for top waters.  The Cane Toad also works great under the surface if you like to fish your frogs a little deeper.

Soft Bait: Scum Frog.  Tried and true.  The Spro Frog is too expensive, and I don't catch more fish with it, or hookup better, than the Scum Frog.  It is equal, so in that case I will go with price and the Scum Frog easily wins.

Hard Plastic:  Rebel Wee Frog Crank cannot be beat!

they're awesome too imo, i'd suggest either of those or the spro, i still prefer spro over all of 'em

has anyone tried cabelas aquaglow mad tommy? bought a couple packs havent tried them yet.  only ones ive tried for the soft plastic types are the gambler cane toads and they worked awesome, although they would roll on me a little bit i might not have been rigged them perfect.  for hard plastic ones i like the scum frog

Good info, I looked into the spro and they look very nice, are they really that expensive though. I would understand if they hold up, but I figured with any hollow body frog they are only good after a few massive hits. I will give them and horny toads a try. The horny toad is a floating frog right??

the horny toad is really designed to cast out and reel back as the legs do paddle action and create a rutcuss like a buzzbait, the spro frog is more or a twitch bait on the surface, it's great in open water near edges and banks as well as THICK scum, from duckweed to stumps to lillys and grass, it works best if you cut one of the streamers at least an inch shorter than the other, you really need a nice topwater rod to get perfect action with it, but it's one of those when you throw it you don't want to stop once you find the rhythm

and if you're going to try the horny toad try the rage tail as well, same thing just more paddle, trial by fire and comparison is how you find your niche

Josh and I have probably caught 40+ over 3 lbs and at least 5 over 5 in the last year on gambler cane toads.  Either bullfrog or lane toad colors seem to work best in stained water.

I also like the spro frogs in the natural green color, although they are quiet expensive, you don't lose them alot cause their topwater

I find that I catch bigger fish on snag proof frogs, but I think I catch more on the zoom horny toads and the ribbits.

First night fishing trip for me is going to be on May 24th, weather permitting. My wife is throwing a party that I am NOT going to, so to the lake I go. That's as good an excuse as any ;D

Rage Tail Shads, Frogs, and Craws will be getting run through the paces at night. Craws for the jigs, as always.

Hey Brian,ever give any thought to a rage craw carolina rigged at night.As we know we're looking for vibration and this baby gets er done big time.

I'm a big fan of the Spro frog as well as the Ribbit high floater. My grandpa has a lake on his farm that you can't miss with a ribbit, it is awesome. I'm going there this weekend to camp and hope fully get a lot of pics from the ribbit.

How do you guys like the Spro Bronzeye vs the Broneye Jr? Does one have a better hookup ratio than the other? Is the plastic softer on the Bronzeye Jr? Also, is there still inconsistency problems with the plastic, with some being harder than others, and therefore resulting in reduced hooksets since the plastic doesn't compress as easily?

i like them both. it depends on the day i guess. one day they will destroy the regular size one, the next day they kill the junior. depends on what the fish want.

The Ribbit frog is excellent; fish it reasonably quickly across the top of the water, cast it right upto the bank and those feet will make a wonderful sloshing noise that bass can't resist.

You can also fish it slower, allowing it to sink between good strong pulls, this will mimic a wounded/dying frog.

Another vote for the Stanley Ribbit. You can even go subsurface and fish it like a jerk bait.
