Silver Buddy hooks come cut at the eye?

Featured Replies

I bought some Silver Buddy lures supposedly sold by somebody who has obtained a bulk quantity from people previously associated with the original factory. These are purported to be original, not knock-offs or molds made of the originals or anything.

What makes me suspicious is the eye of the treble hook has been cut so it could be assembled to the lure body. I've only used Silver Buddys a few years ago but this just seem to be how I remember them. Cutting the treble hook eye surely weakens the hell out of it.

I'm wondering if anybody who knows about Silver Buddys can confirm if this is how they were actually made? This was only done on the gold lures - the silver ones used a treble hook that did not need to be cut.

just seems suspicious the silver ones have the hook attache dusing one method but the gold ones have that hook eye split with wire snips and attached that way. I don't like it.
