Best lure for this situation

Featured Replies

Im in a post spawn period where we live, you can see thousands of tiny bass schooling around and occasionaly you'll see a big bass slam them off the top of the water.  What is the best lure for this?

It depend on how aggresive the fish are, but it will definetly be a topwater bait of some sort.  If they seem to be aggresive then go with a spook or buzzbait.  If they seem to be a little more weary, go with a popper or prop bait.  Just experiment with different topwaters and remember early and late will be your best bet.

That's what I was thinkin'.

I do like the top water options but if they're not as aggressive then I would opt for either a spinnerbait (I have a baby bass color that works great for me in the post spawn time) or a baby bass colored senko style bait.

Yeah, a fluke in the same color scheme as the baby bass, or closest possible.
