Two other MOOKS IN A BOAT

Featured Replies

Hey Fellas: You know the saying Birds of a feather, flock together, right? Well all my friends are basically Mooks. Two of em outdid themselves last night. They fish at Mauch Chunk also, and used to keep their boat there, and Like me and Bruce, they have aquired a Trailer for their boat. I was havin a disucssion about practiicing early in the season with puttin the boats out off the ramp, as to no get people all upset and or provide ramp entertainment for a group of people.

The Chunk is frozen and they keep the lot relatively plowed, b/c of ice fishing, So about 9 or 10 last night they decide NO MORE CABIN FEVER, put said boat and trailer behind the ol F150 and take off to practice backing up on the ramp. They Live in Nesquhoning Which is about 12 miles of so , in a relatively straght run. This is a good thing as the trailer is used, they did not put anyside straps on the boat, and the only thing holding the boat was the rope from the hand crank at the bow.

They got to the Chunk, practiced some steering then put the boat down the ramp, the crank rope snapped and the boat apparently ( I was not there) went a good portion of the distance across the lake, which is frozen!!!!! ;D

They called me at 12 mid night as I was getting off ,explaining that they had a few guys coming to help them because they could not get the boat off themselves, I was in stitches. I called Long Mike up and we were both havin a good laugh. Having worked all day, and they having help went home. I called this morning and they were home at 2am in the morning.Good thing they did not want to be a source of amusment at the ramp

ps names left off to protect the innocent any similarity to a real life situation is purely coincidential and BassResource.com bears no resposibility ::)

Do you think you can get them back to the lake to recreate it.  I'll take my video camera and ice skates along.

thats too funny, thanks for sharing!  ;D ;D

Have you ever noticed that whenever you do something that should get you "Mook of the Year" award the first thing you do is to look up and see if anyone saw you ;D...

                                     As Ever,

                                      skillet

My Eyes would get stuck in the up position, I do things on a daily basis that follow the mook way of life, Skillet ;D At least my life is entertaining 8-)

Wish that was caught on tape , it would be a classic.

It is a good thing that the ramp wasn't slippery. I figured there vehicle would have slid down it onto the ice.

You gotta feel bad for the guys they were trying to improve themselves.

Still funny though.

They did have some traction problems but there was a good amount of snow on the ramp, other wise 4X4 or not i think the boat and the truck would have been an issue.

Sounds like they could use some "educating" on safe boat transport. I'd be more concerned about that than thinking what they did was funny. Probably was, but still, they could have lost the boat and truck and that would not be humorous at all. It also sounds like they were  taking your practice advice seriously. They just chose the wrong time to do it AND they were not properly prepared.

I'll bring cheerleaders!!! ;D :o ;D

Something like that could never happen here in the south   :'(

We're so deprived of all that great icy entertainment....

Funny stuff!!

Lol! Good story, kind of reminds me of my club's tournament at Lake Orange. Some of the members from my club were trying to back their boat down into the water from the ramp. And they backed it down with nobody in the boat to run the trolling motor to drive it back to shore, nor did any of them hold the rope tied to the bow.

I was getting all my fishing gear out of the truck and was about to put it into my partner's jon boat when a little kid walked up to me and asked: "Hey, those guys over there in your club, they just launched their boat with nobody controlling it!"

All I could do was laugh and shake my head and think "You dumb basses (but without the 'b' ;D)" I looked over in time to see their boat floating away into the launch cove with nobody in it or nobody having any control. So to get the boat back they had to board another jon boat provided by my club and paddel out there to get it lol!

It was a moment that I will never forget! ;D ;):D

So you ready to fess up??

You were one of them.  Right? ;D ;D ;D

Good story :)

That is a good story for down the road lol. I fish mauch chunk B dock is the only launch right muddy? I am laughing at the fact that they thought they needed practice on that ramp. It is just a one boat ramp its not steep and has plenty of space to pull up back down. The shallow water at the dock has made me angry plenty of times. I don't know how people get their bass boats in. My 15ft lowe is even a pain in the butt due to the shallows.

Yea Robby I prefer B also, and not onmly is it shallow but now the Firedept has that freaking draw pipe there ( Hint it holds bass at night)

I like B because of how I fish the lake , I hardly go to the berm at all.

We have been moored at 88 for quite some time and we are debating on wheter to rent it this year, we might still fish Mauch Chunk as much as always , then leave it their and pick it up for ocassional trips elsewhere

Well I am off to visit Zel, lata gatas

That's pretty funny. My wife locked the keys up in the explorer one time and we had to call someone to unlock it. Bad part about it was I had just driven the boat up on the trailer and the truck was running. Glad the lake had two ramps.

That sounds like something TheBeast would do.

Muddy was on the road when he called me about this last night.  I haven't laughed so hard in years.  Muddy was also laughing so hard that I'm surprised he didn't cause a traffic accident.
