Any Gun folks?

Featured Replies

I was looking at a Colt seris 70 Gold Cup Nat.Match on- line. The gun has a bushing type compensator, did they have to modify the slide for that?I'm not sure?I would like to return the gun to original,I'm not sure if it had to be cut for that. The price seemed pretty cheep for that gun so it makes me think its not a reverseable mod.

You don't have to modify the slide to use a compensator if it's the type of compensator threaded onto an extended barrel. With these usually there is no modification to the slide. But I say USUALLY because the extent of variabilities is endless. But an extended threaded barrel and a screw on compensator is the cheapest way to compensate a Gov't model.

Returning it to original (or close to it) may be as simple as replacing the barrel and bushing. Don't use the old bushing since it should have been fitted to the old barrel (you probably know this).

If you have to get a barrel and bushing, I recommend Bar-Sto drop-in barrels and bushings. I've used these on several .45 ACPs and .38 Supers and they are outstanding barrels.

Any indication if it has been fitted with a ramped barrel?

I dont really have alot of particulars on the gun, just a pic and brief description on the web site. The guy has several Colt 1911's ranging from1100 to 1600 bucks NIB stuff.this one was $795,not bad for a GoldCup.I called the place and left a message on the machine,no reply yet. The site is Steve Barnett fine( guns or arms ?)..its a nice looking shop in the photos and he seems to have a bunch of nice high end stuff.
