All my favorites from Jazz.Blues.Soul and Country are dropping like flies this decade. I am be getting old

X2 Muddy, it's getting kind of scary. A lot of my friends and acquaints are passing away.

Back when Bill Dance had guests on his show, I think the audience and Bill had the most fun when Jerry Reed was the guest ;D! He was really a character...

Yep ol'Bill thru back his Bass he wanted to keep ;D ;D

Another one gone :(

No one thing jumps right out at ya but he was just an all around multi talented entertainer.

He was perfect as the truck driver in Smoky and the Bandit.

"He dropped out of high school to tour with Ernest Tubb and Faron Young." ....... Not too shabby of a start

Bill Dance used the opening lines of Jerry's song "Today is mine" as his show opening theme song for many years.

                      Today is Mine

When the sun came up this morning I took the time to watch it rise.

As its beauty struck the darkness from the skies.

I thought how small and unimportant all my troubles seem to be,

and how lucky another day belongs to me.

And as the sleepy world around me woke up to greet the day,

and all its silent beauty seemed to say:

So what, my friend, if all your dreams you haven't realized.

Look around, you got a whole new day to try.

Today is mine, today is mine, to do with what I will.

Today is mine. My own special cup to fill.

To die a little that I might learn to live.

And take from life that I might learn to give.

Today is mine.

With all men I curse the present that seems void of peace of mind,

and race my thoughts beyond tomorrow and vision there more peace of mind.

But when I view the day around me I can see the fool I've been.

For today is the only garden we can tend.

Today is mine, today is mine, to do with what I will.

Today is mine. My own special cup to fill.

To die a little that I might learn to live.

And take from life that I might learn to give.

Today is mine.

Don't forget his great role in Smokey and the Bandit.

He will be missed.

I will never forget the fishing show he was on I think with Rowland Martin, this was way back when, and he caught a DD bass, his biggest ever.   Of course Rowland insisted it get released, Jerry was having nothing of it, that baby was going on his wall....   Well, Jerry made a mistake and turned his back, and of course the fish went back in the water..... there were more bleeps in that last few minutes than I had heard in a lifetime at that point... Jerry starts chasing Rowland and they end up in the water..... I about died laughing...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I really do not care for country music, BUT, Jerry Reed was one awesome guitar player. And a funny son-of-a-rooster to boot.

I met him once, and he was just about as nice a guy as you'll ever find.

Another great one is gone, and we're all poorer for it.

Jerry was a great storyteller.  He was a successful songwriter and studio musician long before he ever got a chance to be a performer in his own right.

He wrote a song called the Tupelo Mississippi Flash and submitted a demo tape.  The studio wanted someone other than Jerry to record it, but noone else could figure out how to play it.  Jerry told how he "boogered up the tuning" so it would be nearly impossible for anyone else to figure it out.  He got to record it.

Yes, very good guitar picker, I always heard that Chet Adkins taught him how to play?  Of course he was much better than him ;)

I do remeber , he played next to Elvis while they did "Guitar Man"
