NO new storms!!!

Featured Replies

August - October in Florida is the peak of the hurricane season.

Many Floridians like myself check out the weather and hurricane websites as if they were NFL preview pages.

The past month or so it has been routine to see up to 4 storms lined up from Florida to Africa just waiting to come West and pulverize us.

Ike is still on the map but it has passed Florida. (Sorry Texas) but the map is totally clear of any tropical activity all the way across the Atlantic.   The full season runs through November so there will be more activity, but  I welcome the relief.

I agree you guys have had enough.  Mother nature is an interesting creature sometimes isn't she.

Yep,it's not a matter of if it happens, just when.Florida is a bullseye for these things and fortunately mother natures aim has been off.The people in the Carribean on the other hand are living hell on earth this year :-/

Don't forget the nasty ones that form out in the lower gulf. These are many times just as strong as the ones that move across the atlantic.

Y'all see the dogleg right on Ike? Gonna do a 180 around us this time  :-?

Nuther reason I like winter, hurricane season is over  ;)

They may be hell, but is your drought over?

Global warming may be causing it, but Oklahoma is getting a lot of much needed rain of late.  Ike is projected to waltz right over us.  It's early yet, but our forecast is an 80% probabilty of rain for the next five days.

I know the place was bone dry on my last visit.

I know I wouldn't like to see Jim Cantore come rolling into town one day.

Now, Stephanie Abrahms on the other hand........   :)

Hurricanes are caused by a number of variables that we have had for 1,000's of years ane are out of our control.

Hurricanes will continue and they are a necessary part of our environment by moving water into places that have drought conditions and to keep the water levels high in Louisiana so they will have a sucessful crawfish harvest.  ;D

But I am with Avid.  I hope we don't get any big storms but we could use one or two more passing through Virginia before the season ends to help with the water levels in our ponds, rivers and lakes.
