My 4th grade daughters math homework.

Featured Replies

I am a 4-digit number. My ones digit is 2. My tens digit is 4 greater than my ones digit. My hundreds and thousands digits are both 3 greater than my ones digit.

I'm the only one that answers 5582.

"4 greater" = 4 + and 4 + 2 = 6 ;)

I'm not sure where you guys are getting 5's ? 6682

Same as the previous response.  "3 greater" = 3 + and 3+ 2 = 5.  It doesn't say 3 times greater, just 3 greater.

My college buddy, a math major, wrote a 20 page paper trying to prove that 2+2=4

Amazingly, I got them all correct!!!  And I actually had fun with the attempt!  (It was a lot more fun than what I do here at work, trust me!)  Anyway, I was amazed that I managed to persist with it.  In high school and even during college my brain would have fizzled and popped with the only real outcome being smoke coming out my ears.  I certainly never would've made it past 4th grade if these problems were mandatory then!

My teacher was talking about limits today, about how you could always divide a distance by 2 and never reach your destination.

I recall that from years ago. They were saying that if a man and a woman were on opposite ends of a couch, and one kept moving half the distance to the other, in theory, they'd never meet. On the other hand, they'd be close enough for all practical purposes.
