It was nice to see a coach with the stones to go for two and the win, but can't imagine why the ref blew the whistle when he did.  If he waited another second the play would've been reviewable and the league has instructed them to let plays like this play themselves out.

Broncos had nothing to do with the call and the mistake was explained

up front, immediately after the call was made. Sure, it may have

changed the game and certainly wasn't "fair", but get over it...

The result was by the (NFL) book.

As for "a pair", Shanahan's "stupid" call would have been panned

on every network's sports talk for the rest of the year. Sometimes

it works! When a head coach throws the dice and wins, give 'em

some credit for making the game fun.

Can't blame RW though. He's team just won on a terrible call. He's got to justify it some how!

Honestly though, if you want to win in the NFL, you can't go down to the final minute and rely on the refs to make the right call. You have to put it away early. The Chargers had 59 minutes to win before that bogus call.

I didn't see any postgame interview, but I think Shanahan's decision might have been one of sportsmanship to (as the announcers stated) let SD have a chance to stop them "fair and square" for whatever that's worth, instead of letting a coin toss decide it in overtime.  I really don't care which team won the game, but San Diego's defense had multiple chances to stop Denver before they got into the redzone.

And they did just that until the bungled call. The Chargers were winning when the ref SHAFTED them.

I give shanahan props for going for 2, and i like the broncos better than the chargers, except for LT  8-)

Think about this.     How do you think the big time gamblers feel when they have to pay up because of a bad call?

When they were going for it, stats popped up saying something around 48.2% for 2-pt conversions in the NFL.

I personally thought Shanahan's decision to go for it was bonehead move.   At first sight!!!!

       But after seeing that Denver only had a hand full of plays in the second half, and was leading 31-17, then seeing SD score 3 times to take the lead.     I felt he thought his team was hitting on all cyclinders at the right time.

      Denver didn't do any thing but have 2 drives 3 and out and one more drive of 7 plays for 13 yards in the second half.  Until their last drive.

    Instead of chancing the coin flip and OT, he "struck while the iron was hot".

His offense the second half sputtered, and his defense stopped no one as well in that half.

     Sportsmanship rarely plays fair in football.    

Have you ever seen a coach give a victory back for bad Pass Interference call that gave them the game?   I haven't.

I doubt sportsmanship was a thought at that time.
