They were so great that Hal Blaine played Ringo's drum parts in the studio. They also bought enough records, funded by Ed Sullivan and company to get on the Billboard Charts ( essential in those days for a single) with a bullet. Most people do not realize that I Want to Hold Your hand , was not thier first American release, I believe, if wrong someone correct me, was Love me Do, which did not go to number one. They bought their own records to do that .
