Bow Hunting Question

Featured Replies

Is it ok to take a small blind with you when hunting on public land? i guess this wouldnt apply just to bow hunting. any info would be great!

Around here it is.  We can take ground blinds, climbing stand, etc.

I'd check local regulations first though.  Some things are illegal in certain places, like using screw in steps.

Yes.  Most people prefer to be in a blind or stand rather than on the ground unconcealed.

If you do take a ground blind while bowhunting, make sure it's big enough for you to draw your bow back in.

yeah im just getting into bow hunting i hear once you start you wont wanna go back to the gun. On a side note can you reccomend some good brands of bows i have no clue what is decent when it comes to bows

I'm relativey new to bowhunting as well.

My current set up is a Bowtech Liberty @ 70lbs.  I've shot Bowtech's, Mathew's, and Hoyt.  They're all good bows.  My favorite has to be the Bowtech 82 Airborne.  That was one SWEET shooting bow.

was your setup realitivly expensive? i think bow hunting might be a little more expensive of a hobby then fishing haha

Archery can be very expensive.

My current bow is a 2004 model.  I got it about a year ago for around $400, not counting a sight, quiver, rest, arrows, etc.

It can get expensive fast.  There are some nice bows out there for reasonable prices.

It's all about practice.  If you put in enough time with any bow, you're going to be successful.  I shoot for about an hour a day a few times a week in the summer and fall.

yeah no kidding i had to sell my playstation to get my first bow haha..sorry to keep bugging you but do you know the best way to figure out your draw length?

Go to a shop that knows what there talking about to figure out your draw length. Look at parker for a slightly less expensive but very nice alternative to the bowtech, mathews, or hoyt.

GO TO A GOOD BOW SHOP!

They can personally set up you're length, change your draw weight, and give you general advice.  Like I said, I'm still new to bowhunting.  I'd be lost without my pro shop.

If I were buying right now, my search would begin and end with the PSE X-Force SS.

Im shooting a Browning Mirage at 65lb right now.  I have shot Matthews, Hoyt and PSE but for the money, I havent shot any better than the Browning.

Just make sure to neutralize anything that you will be wearing/taking into the woods.  A deer's nose is your biggest enemy.
