Gotta Try the Senkos!

Featured Replies

Well, texas rigged worms (with the squiggly tails) and lizards aren't working at my pond. Even my Jitterbugs aren't working any more. I've read that Senkos are great for ponds. I plan on getting the 5 inch ones, maybe 6 inches. I want to start out with two colors before I flood my tackle box with these guys. The one color I am for sure getting is the watermelon with black flakes. But, I need help with the second color. I was thinking Blue Pearl with silver flakes or Bubblegum. Is there a better color to choose from then those two I can't decide on? The pond has moderately clear water, with a lot of weeds and shallow, if it helps. Can you help me with my second color?

Yes I've read the FAQ's but still can't decide ;)

I have some purple pearl/blue flake that work well.  The best one for me, though, are watermelon/black flake.

Get Watermelon/ Black and Red flake and Black/ blue flake.  It suits different water colors and situations.  Try these.

I've read that Senkos are great for ponds.

Senkos and other lures work in all sizes of bodies of water.

If you read enough threads on Senkos, you will learn that every color works. Don't drive yourself crazy, just get a light and a dark color and you'll probably be fine. I personally use black and pumpkinseed, not because I think they're any better, but because I have to have something.

I obviously could be wrong (I'll never know) but I have confidence that having more or different colors would not make any substantial difference in the number of strikes.

Get the 5 inch ones.

X2 for the watermelon black/red flake

i dont usually use watermelon flake colored trick sticks, i usually use silvery colored ones.

but if you are set on getting watermelon black flake then do so, but as your second color, i HIGHLY reccomend something like shimmer shad or smoke or junebug.

Blue pearl is a good color as is watermelon but I Doubt you'll notice a difference with any colors as long as there on the darker side.

I use watermelonseed and watermelonred...that's about it.

Get some watermelon/cream laminate...that's my favorite color and resembles a dying baitfish perfectly.

if you already got ur lighter color i highly recomend getting a black/blue laminate or black/with blue flecks

black and blue are dinamite ;)

I'd get 2 packs of watermelon/black flake.

I took your guys' advice and bought a light and a dark color. I actually ended up buying the colors I said in my first post. I got a pack of 5 inch watermelon/blk flake and blue pearl/slv flake. For hooks I bought Gamakatsu Superline EWG hooks size 3/0. Also bought a nice little scale that goes to 28 lbs with a tape measure so I can now weigh my fish!

Thanks for all the ideas! I'll try 'em out tomorrow ;D
