Greg Oden

Featured Replies

If you have not seen him play this preseason, go to Youtube or find highlights on ESPN.  He will be THE dominate force in the NBA for years to come, if he can stay healthy.

He reminds me of a young Shaq, except he can shoot free throws, and actually has more moves than back you down and dunk.

Since #23 Retired the only thing close to a dominant force has been Garnett and LeBron, and they have not yet stepped up into that elite group.

You don't consider Kobe a dominant force.

He hasn't won anything since Shaq left the Lakers.

Enough said.

No, he has not lead his team to a championship and as a team player he and Shaq could have done it together, Jordan had his issues with Pippen and visa versa , they found a way to get by them. Shaq also deserves part of the blame for that

I believe that was one of the driving forces for LA to get Jackson, how he handled players egos, did not quite gel in LA

I see Garnett as way more important to the teams he played on.

And Mr. James is at his break out time, just like Jordan it takes a while , let us see what he does now.

#23 wouldn't have won any rings either without a good team around him . This year they actualy have a preaty good team buy the looks of it.They Might make some noise (BTW Not a lakers fan)

Portland may be young, but they have the team, with Brandon Roy, Bayless (whom we stole in the draft) ;D , Aldridge from Texas, Outlaw, and now Rudy Fernandez (famous for dunking on Superman in the Olympics)

Give them 2 full years together, and lordy have mercy, the NBA will not know what to do with those guys in such a small market... it will drive the execs crazy!! ;D  I am actually anticipating opening night, Blazers vs. Lakers.  Oden vs. Bynum,  Roy vs. Kobe.

AGREED! I have not watched a whole lot of NBA, I grew up in Bklyn as a Knicks Fan. Not much to watch there for way too many years. I have been really into the college game for a long time

The NBA is shwing some signs of some parity and interesting play as of yet, time to start paying attention again

Sorry for getting of topic. Portland is very young like you said if they can keep those young guys from self destructing, and keep them  healthy they will be a BIG threat for many years to come.

Does Oden have any health issues going on?

He is coming off of a year of rehab for microfracture surgery on his knee,  and in college, he broke his wrist.  Even though he was drafted last year, he is a rookie this year due to the surgery.

However, if you look at pics of him now vs. when he was drafted, he has really put on the muscle and kept himself in shape.  So hopefully he will be ok....   :-/

Greg Oden may be the next Shaq if he can stay healthy.  But, come on, basketball is tied with hockey as the most boring sport on TV.

yeah, he looked a lot bigger and stronger when I saw him on Sportscenter the other day. He looked very imposing

I would call Garnet beind dominant a strech personally.  Don't get me wrong he's one of the best players in the league.  However, he was on several bad teams, never made the finals in Minnesota and is often criticized for disappearing in big moments.  He's almost to much of a team player. He wants to keep everyone involved to the point of hindering his own domination.

I wouldn't even make a big argument if someone wanted to say he was the best player in the league, but dominant is not the term that comes to mind.

What games are you watching???? How could Basketball be more boring then: Tennis, Golf, Bowling ?????

:D

"What games are you watching????"

The fixed ones :D

NBA is entertainment, a show.

College basketball is much more exciting IMO.

Football is boring too... ::)

Here the game i'm wanting to see Mon Nov 10th Portland vs Orlando

Dwight Howard( 6' 11'' 265) Vs Greg Oden (7' 0'' 285)

I'm going to that game. Oden is a beast. Shaq status, definitely. Can't wait!

And all of you saying the NBA is boring and fixed, you're crazy.

Post Jordan,'Bird.Ewing and Magic it did get a little bit dull there for a while. The last 2 mins of a lot of games were the only thing I was watching. The best thing about the NBA was the Dallas ownership ::)
