Boogee baits

Featured Replies

Has anybody had success with these things? I sure haven't. I can't seem to get a bite on a chatterbait either. Any tips on when and where to fish these?

i am also clueless. th only time i  had luck with em is when i slow dragged them up a point in late fall.

I had too much luck with one. I had a relatively new one get broken by a huge bass. I hit the same spot with a strike king pure poison about three weeks later and got my PB.

I have caught a 25lb catfish and an 8.5lb long-nosed gar with them.  I have seen the chatterfrogs catch some serious lmbs first hand last Sunday.

Not me. I hate those things. I am old school and wil stay away from them. Never had a bite on the ONE I own.

i think they are like any bait if you have confidence in them they are a good bait otherwise don't even get them out of tackle box plus most of us will stick to what ever worked before

This style of bait is excellent for drawing strikes. I use them in relatively shallow, weedy water, the same type of water where I'd use a spinnerbait.

I don't think the Chatterbait is of the best quality, certainly inferior to the Boogee Bait, although I haven't seen much of a difference between the two in their ability to draw strikes. I don't like the Leverage hook style on the Boogee Bait; if it had a rigid hook, it would be my bait of choice. I've been using the Gambler Swim Blade.

So far I've caught bass, pike, pickerel, walleye and channel cats on these baits. I always use a trailer hook.

Strike King Pure Poison > than all others

I've done pretty well with the boogee baits.  I have caught several of my biggest fish on them, usually having a hawg just slam it as I twitch it past heavy cover.

I agree that it kinda fits that gimmick area of tackle, in that as soon as Bassmaster did a story about it, suddenly every tackle company had their version and Wally-world immediately had a full section devoted to it because of the rush.

I've only had marginal success with the chatterbait type baits. I will say this, every fish I caught on these baits really slammed it.
