As another is prone to say;

UMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Now let's see you can see through the buck

But nice shot, right into the vitals there! 8-)

Thats a horrible shot, he completely missed the vitals!

Fake, you can see right though it!

That's a good point. I didn't even notice that...

Muddy, you think I would realize by now not to take any of your posts too seriously.

Do you know where the vitals are on a deer?  :-?

Underneath the hind legs, one would think ;D

Yes. Assuming the camera somehow did not catch the arrow hitting the deer at impact, the arrow should have gone all the way through the deer hitting 2 lungs and a heart.

Arrow is angling forward.  Double lung hit and caught the off-shoulder.  Note the blood coming from the opposite leg.

Gotcha. After seeing the other deer in the background, it seems the arrow either hasn't finished its route, or it stopped off the opposite shoulder as you said.

Either way, I could see this easily being a legit photo.

Not unusual for the off-shoulder to stop an arrow like that, given the angle of penetration.

Pass-throughs are nice, but not necessary.  Watch enough videos, you see plenty of lethal non-pass through hits.  Pass-through does make for an easier tracking job.

a couple things with this photo, I have seen some other cam pics where it looks like you can see through the deer, but I find it hard for the camera to actually pick up the arrow in flight.  Also it almost looks like somebody photoshoped a dead deer on the ground and placed it to look like its jumping.

Very interesting

Gotcha. I don't know much about bow hunting. My 12 gauge and .270 keep me happy. Having trained dogs to find the kill, most of the time I go for the double lung shot instead of the put-down.

Dead deer don't usually have droplets of blood floating around them.

Or at least the ones I kill don't.  :-/

Yeah, the only thing out of ordinary in the picture is the "see through" deer. The camera could have clearly caught the arrow assuming it hit bone on the other side.

I thought the blood was actually on the deer and not in the air.  I dont know, it just looks a little fishy to me.  I also coming from Indiana where baiting is illegal, I hate to see the corn right under the deer.

I will go with real.   It is not uncommon to see through moving objects in pictures such as this with motion blur and a camera with a slower shutter speed.  It picks up the background behind the deer and then double exposes the deer on top of that as it moves.

Fake. I understand the whole fast object with slow shutter speed, but the deer has clean edges, the only thing is that the deer is "erased" at the top. I have not seen a fast moving object erased by a slow shutter speed, usually it is just a lengthening or blurring. Also, the deer does look like it could have been photoshopped in from a picture of a deer dead on the ground (I think the blood drops in "mid-air" look more like blood drippings on the fur)

Do those cameras even take pictures fast enough when motion activated to catch a jumping deer? I thought they had a slight delay and a jumping deer would be moving FAST.

If the deer were dead, all musculature would be loose.  That deer is strung tighter than a mandolin string.

How about undecided. I had a deer jump the string on a high shot . Glad he did too , my shot hit him in the heart . But I don't know a d**n thing about trail cams and there use either

You're right, and I noticed the head also, it would have to be angled towards the camera it were on the ground because the rack would prop it up.
