Metal detectors

I've had the urge lately to walk the beach using a metal detector.  Does anyone have or use metal detectors?  Are they fun?  What are some good brands/types?

and you guys rag on me for wanting to raise nightcrawlers... ::)

Why are you up so late?  Don't you have Cub Scouts in the morning or something?

Not to throw fuel on the Pampers/Depends thing going on but.....

Metal detectors are fun if you're old enough to wear sandals with black socks and your pants hiked up to the bottom of your nipples....

If I happen to see you out at Lake Worth beach, I'm gonna laugh at you!  ;D ;D

Metal detectors are fun.

Be sure to get a "high end" model as they have better electronics than the cheaper models.

You can find all sorts of junk on the beach, in your yard, in the woods, and other places you think will hold valuables.

Give 'em a try. Fun thing to do in the summer or all during the year, depending on where you go and what you are looking for.  :)

The Fred Mertz look.

That's one the depends crowd will get.

My neighbor where I used to live, found a 1 oz Krugerand on a gold neclace.  It's a gold coin from Africa.  He's out there all the time, the list of cool stuff he's found is endless from wedding rings to ammo caches.

He went on a family vacation to some town where there was a civil war battle and came back with allll kids of cool stuff from bullets to hat pins to a belt buckle, all from that era

Oh,..he's like 19  ;)

These young bucks are too  busy playing with worms and trying to imitate Metalica on Guitar Hero to go out and do something somewhat productive.

Try it. It's an enlightenment that can not be described accurately. Heed caution though.
