Truck Question

My taillights have quit working on my truck.  Everything else works: blinkers, brake lights, reverse lights, hazard...everything.  We've replaced the bulbs and all the fuses are fine.  Any suggestions?

Are your dash lights working? I once had a Ranger and the tailights and instrument lights were on the same fuse.Do you have a trailer hitch electircal connection? That can also cause this if it pulled apart somehow.

Do you have an *** bumper sticker? Yamamoto has a nation wide team of ninjas shooting out the tail lights of said vechiles

Everything except the tail lights are working. A few of the interior lights were out as well, we replaced the fuse and they started working again. Still, no taillights.

Do you have an electrical trailer connector ? If so make sure it has not pulled apart or any wires frayed.

Interior lights went out again, so it's not the fuses.  My dad is checking out the trailer connector right now.

Seems like you may have a short circuit, which can be a bear to find.

Question - Is your headlight switch part of the turn signal stalk?

If so your turn signal switch may be bad. On some vehicles the circuit for all exterior lights travels through the turn signal switch.

Good luck, electrical problems can become a nightmare even for experienced mechanics.

One last suggestion: Google your truck's make, model and year and the words "tailight problem" Chances are someone else has had this problem and has posted a solution.

Had this issue on my Ranger. Was the switch you turned to turn on the lights. The headlights, brake lights, reverse lights would all work, but not the tail lights. Weird system

It's fixed.  We took the dash off a few weeks ago to install a new stereo.  I guess the dash wasn't completely set back down properly.

IF YOU CAN'T  FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL  PROBLEM. ;D

I dunno, I've cured more than on electrical problem with a hammer - permanently.
