Double header of bad news for Met's Fans

1. We lost to the Braves again 3 to 1

2. NY Papers saying Wells headed our way :-[

Sure glad I'm a Braves fan!

I went to opening day for the braves and the smoltz vs. santana game yesterday. Yesterday's game was great. The Braves look a lot better than their record indicates. They have problems in the pen and then the rotation needs to stay healthy in order for them to win the division. Their lineup, however, is the best in the NL. It will be a great race for the division amongst the phils, mets, and braves. Even with Pedro out, I like the Mets 1,2,3 in the rotation better than pretty much everyone in the NL. Santana is amazing and then Perez and Maine are underated and will have great seasons. Both had good years last year but no one seemed to really notice. Both will top last years performance as the mets win the wild card.

wow i find this a little interesting and biased. know first off the O's havent played any great teams(devil rays and mariners)and wont keep it up throughout the season but they are (currrently) leading the division and yet power rankings(stupid in the first place) have us at 27 with boston and NY (good teams with bad starts to the season) at 2nd and 4th. how is this? shouldnt a power rankings be placing the teams that are doing good at the moment up front? also thought i might add that they have Detroit at 6 >

Enjoy the moment, thats what it's all about. In the end the power rankings don't count for anything unless they translate into wins. There will be alot of ups and downs over 162 games for all teams so enjoy the up times while you've got them

Power ratings at the begining of ther season are based on stats primarily from the year before. If they go by the O's records in the last 5 years you are right iIwould have the O's favored to be in post season play at the LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES

Muddy, i must say the Mets new "strategy" is quite interesting. pick off the opposing teams players until you force them to forfeit ;D

This is the one thread where "cocky" is acceptable. It's what it's about the trash talk! Yeah...I would live it up too, if I were an O's fan but, those are some birds I wouldn't root for unless they were playing the Yankees.

speaking of relief pitchers the guy we picked up in the mariners trade George Sherril has done wonders. i think he is at 4 saves. at least our bullpen seems to hava gotten better this year(knock on wood)

Yea....everyone roots for whoever is playing the Yankees but now when the shoes on the other foot and someone roots for whoever is playing the Mets....well enough said   It's just too much fun!!!! Still have the Braves hat.....gonna wear it on Thursday!

That was a great move in Boston last night for Buckner. He did not loose the 86 series. McNamaras insitance in going to Scharaldi, who they Got from the Mets in the first place in games 6 and 7 lost the series. Schardi's weakness' were well known to the Mets pitching coaches, not to mention you could see the fear in his face. McNamara and not Bruchner was the reason they lost that series 4-3

Muddy, I totally agree about Buckner. I thought it was a classy move by both him and the organization. I kinda got teary-eyed.

I loved the guy in 86. I have one particularly vivid memory of him hitting an inside-the-park homer during a regular season game at Fenway I was attending. The guy could barely run; he had to spend a long long time before every game in the trainer's office getting his knees to work right. But, man, he could smell that inside-the-park job and he found a way to get himself around those bases. It wasn't pretty, but that's the kind of character he has. In a lot of ways, he was the kind of player Boston fans lovea real dirt dog who gave you everything he had every night. One mistake at a very bad timebelieve me, no one was more upset than I wasand it took fans 22 years to get over it. I hope now that he keeps coming back to Fenway. I'd buy him a beer anytime.

Buckner played the whole tail end of 86 on Hobbled legs, you could see him grit his teeth during that series.

Listen to you two guys getting all sappy over all this.......
