Keurig Coffee Maker

Recommended Posts

I got one of these for Christmas. Neatest little trick I have ever seen. It will make a cup of HOT coffee in like 30 seconds.

Problem is I have always drank Maxwell House. I got a variety pack with the machine and had one in there ( Green Mountain Bold ) that will slap you down and walk on you. :D Has anybody else had any dealings with this outfit and do you know witch kind of coffee they sell that would compare to Maxwell House ?

Hmmm....I drink Folger's when I'm in a hurry, but grind my own from specialty shops otherwise.

Hey, I live in Seattle. It's a requirement.  ;)

So, for store-bought brands, I'd choose Folgers.  I like the dark roast blend, but you gotta really like coffee to like such a bold blend.  Most folks choose the Bed & Breakfast blend, which is really mild.

If you want to grind your own, I recommend these:

Whatever you do, don't get Starbucks. It's like the McDonalds of coffee.

This coffee comes in a little cup like the one you get the creamer in.

you stick it in the slot and hit the button and you have a cup of coffee.

A lot of my clients have those. They are neat. I know bed bath and beyond sells a TON of varieties for the coffees.

I got a 12 pot one a while back that has a built in grinder. I love it. One thing I would recommend ifyou brew a full pot in the morning. Go to Target or Walmart and get one of the Thermos brand coffee caraffes. As soon as your coffee is done brewing pour it in there. it will keep hot all day long and since it is not being cooked like it was on the burning, you can get a cup 4 hours after you brew it and have it taste like it is fresh brewed.

BTW, I would ditto Glenns comment on the types. While I do like some Starbucks every now and then, finding a good local place is key. When I get sent to Columbia, SC on business, there is a place there called "immaculate consumption: that did its own roasting and stuff. Just great beans. Not sure if it is still there, been a bit since I was there but if you can find a place like that locally, go there. You will definitely get better coffee than mass produced.

The school I used to work for had one in the office.  I was tasked with trying to find the best deals on the coffee, and I could not find folgers or maxwell house anywhere.  As of this time last year all I could find were the specialty coffees, but when you buy in bulk you get a decent deal.  The downside is you are paying more for coffee than you did before, but the up side is different people can pick their own flavors of coffee, tea, etc. and brew it one cup at a time...and quickly too!
