Who else does this?

I don't expect Team Pampers to have heard about this but who else , besides me, puts peanuts in their coca cola?

My wife thought I was weird when I was telling our 10 month old son, who's too young to understand what I was saying, that I couldn't wait for him to get older so we could go boating, wake up at 2am to go Snook fishing, and do things like putting peanuts in our coke.

I've done it many times, but Coke was sold in bottles back then, and one could watch the volcano effect when the peanuts went in.  I'll bet it's been forty-five years since I last tried it.

Yea, I did the bottles too, along with RC cola. Is RC still around?

Used to do it when I was a child, glass bottles only then.  Probably would taste nasty in the newer plastic bottles.

Yep, still available.  I'll buy a bottle every now and then to relive the past.

I thought everyone did.

Granted I'm an old member of Team Pampers, but I've done that in the last couple of months.

That used to be pretty common around here when I was growing up.  Of course, that was decades ago.

I loved putting peanuts in Coke like that.  I tried it once with the plastic bottle and yes Jimzee it was nasty.  You can still get Coke's in 8 oz. glass bottles here so I believe I know what I will be doing later.

Ive done that not too long ago.  The in laws neigbor works for Code and brought in some of those 8 oz. glass bottle Beast, so naturally, I had to dig out some salty peanuts to drop in and enjoy during a game of Rook.

I'll pass. Do you put Jolly Ranchers in your Zima to?

Laughing at myself.  I just remembered the whole exploding thing.

I haven't exactly lived a sheltered life, but I must admit I have never heard of this practice Of course, never been much of a soda/pop drinker, and I usually only eat peanuts when I'm at a ballgame having a beer.

Is it one of those regional type things?

Peanuts were always best in a grape Nehi.  Anyone remember Nehi's?

I occasionally put them into a can of Welch's grape soda now and then.

They still make Nehi.

Grape Nehi was the best.  Sometimes I'll tell the waitress I'd like a grape Nehi when she asks what I want to drink with dinner.  They always look at me with this look like I'm crazy and say "what's that?"

Nehi grape is good, but I liked Nehi Peach the best.  I would like to get my hands on a Sunkist Peach.  I saw pictures of a friend currently in ATL with one, and now I want to try it.

Yep, I make a special trip to Payless about once every couple of months for a Nehi Peach.

Mmmmm.  Royal Crown, Grape Nehi.  I even liked Shasta sodas.

Of course I do. I even put them in my Dew. I love peach Nehi. Does anyone remeber Sun Drop. Man that stuff was great.

Haven't had a shasta in a long time.  Another old fave that I remember from going to my grandparents when I was younger was drinking Faygos.  I would like to find those once again too.

  • Super User

Maybe it's Faygo that Payless has.  Haven't been over there in a while.

Gene, Sundrop is still available as well.  Last time I saw it was in Kitty Hawk NC a couple of years ago.

RC is my cola of choice.  Found locally in the grocery stores but not in the local stop and robs.
