They should have never put these teams in that situation. I would have to blame the grown ups for this. Now you have two teams that look bad. I wonder how the kids feel, you reckon they are as upset as the grown ups are? Sounds like both teams played up to their level.

Of course some of the girls in NCAA D1 are awesome.

Hell, there might be some amazing coed curling athletes out there. Doesnt mean I'll be glued to the TV when they do their thing, lol. ;D

But try to look at it objectively. Do you ever watch a freshman girls game and think to yourself "Now this is how the game is meant to be played" Or do you want to scream when the fourth over the back call in a row is called, or when the teams weakest player jacks 3's from beyond the NBA line?

Hahahahahaha! I only laugh because I grew up watching my older sister play. The thought of the chubby kid with Rec Specs jacking up 3's gets to me.

I just realized something. I dont know how we've missed it so far.

ITS HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL!!!! We, as adult, basketball loving men should not concern ourselves with this abomination of the game.

I have to go watch my girlfriend's little sister all the time and it drives me crazy. How many freaking jump balls can you have a game?

HaHa....I've been thinking the whole time how the heck did I get involved in a Girls High School baketball conversation.

When my wife was pregnant I told her if she had a girl the baby wasn't allowed within 500 feet of a basketball b/c I wasn't watching girls basketball for the next 15 years of my life.  Sorry to everyone that has girls, no offense at all meant.

Muddy, even the "elite" programs you mentioned are impossible for me to watch.  I honestly believe that the texas 3A champion would beat any of the teams you mentioned.

I've coached girls bball, soccer, and softball for several years. I've been on the wining and losing side of plenty of blowouts.

When you're winning, you put in the end of your bench, you play a 2-1-2 zone, you don't press, double-team, or pressure the ball beyond the 3 point line. On offense, you run your 4 corners, and control the ball...if you create a layup, you take it.

You can pack in your defense, you can slow down your offense, but you can't tell the girls on the end of the bench not to play hard. Coaches, even losing coaches, get this. Parents and fans, not so much.

This could be a very oppinionated subject. Let's try to post and despite different opinions lets keep it classy.

Having been a former official for 25years there are ways to have taken care of this situation. All you have to do is call some fouls and the problem gets taken care of.

A technical here or there for unsportsmanlike conduct and no more coach. Next coach goes and no more game.

Any fans cheering a steal with a 60-0 lead "unsportsmanlike". You wouldn't have to go this far before people get the "hint"

PLEASE keep it civil or don't bother to post

much appreciated FFI - AKA Matt Crum

For what reason would you call a technical or unsportsmanlike conduct?  I dont know of anything in situation that is within reason for an official to call that.

They only thing different the winning teams coach could have done is went to 4 corners and ran out the clock in both of the last 2 quarters or something since the other team is "challenged", and that is a slap in the face as well.

FOX reported that the school fired the coach who won the game 100-0.

Good.  >:(

There are no right or wrongs here just opinions.

As far as special needs I don't know if it had anything to do with anything except it obviously could have an effect on the availble pool of talent just from a numbers point. This could be a pro or con talent wise who knows.

My only gripe ( and just my opinion, not meant to be disrespectful to other opinions) is any coach for any reason who presses with a 50 or 60-0 score at half irregardless of the opponent deserves to be fired. Even long before half it becomes a classless act of coaching.

In my opinion an educators job is to teach. Sometimes they teach about math and English sometimes they teach about life and conducting yourself with class. The example In this case should have been " doing the right thing ". Obviously a fair number of people agree as the man lost his job over it. I commend the administration for acting promptly this was a lesson in "conducting themselves with class". They taught their kids more in a day than the coach would have in years.

Had the coach showed a little he'd still have his job.

I agree with your point but he actually lost his job for posting on his website that he disagreed with the school for issuing an apology for the win and thought there was nothing shameful about the victory.

That coach was fired.

That school has only 20 girls.     They haven't won a game in 4 seasons.     None of the 8 girls on the team have any experience playing basketball.   Yet they are playing Varsity BB.

The other school has a speedy point guard.  Gifted, very special talent.       She allowed the other team to cross mid court and stole the ball for a second half lay up drill.   She had 48 points.

They did come down and jack up 3's instead of the steady diet of layups they had running their offensive sets.      They went to 3's and they fell just as fast.

I have thought about delaying the game with 4 corners.

Would that not be like playing keep away from your little brother?    Demoralizing as well.

I know I'd played every bench warmer starting the second Quarter.    I'd would have slowed the tempo way down.

That same night, the boys won their game against the same school 50-38, girls coached said it motivated his boys to a surprising victory.

I think I have read that Dallas Acad will not have girls BB next year.

They lost their final game of the season 41-8.
