My Pumpkinseed at His Best

Featured Replies

yesterday i dropped 3 blacknose dace in my tank that were about 1" long (hoping to watch the mudminnows chase them around and eat them). while i was trying to take some pictures of other fish i noticed a flash so i looked over and saw the pupmkinseed with a fish head sticking out of his mouth! this got me excited.

the pumpkinseed chewed on the fish for a bit, then spit it out. the fish just hung in the water right next to the pumpkinseed, and then the pumpkinseed grabbed it in the middle, and got it in its mouth tail first. it chewed on it again for a few minutes, and finaly he got it turned around head first and swallowed the fish.

it was very cool!

Yeah, cool stuff. Aquariums can be really neat. Mudminnows! Now those are neat!

I have a river tank, and have always considered it better than TV.

my mudminnows destroy worms. i have fed my 3" mudminnow some 6" worms. he fights them for a while and then just sucks them down.

they are really just like mini pickerel.

Dave, you got too much time on your hands.

But I must admit, those are great pics.  :)

You know what Mud Minnows are also great for?

Flounder Bait.   ;D

It's good to see you gave up the worm farm idea.  I like the fish tank much better.

Should keep the worm farm idea, he'll need it for the tak fish.  I love the tank pics.  Makes me want to set one up again.  It's been a long time since I had one to take care of.  Now you got me debating with myself. :-/
