Delivery Question

Featured Replies

OK I payed for overnight shipping, that was a choice and I picked it, it shipped out today at 4:00 from FL to IN. Why will it be here Monday?

I ordered this morning at MudHole and came home today and checked my email, in it they told me that they had called me, so I check it and there's a voice mail from MH, at the end of the message they tell me to expect my order Monday before 7:00pm

Does FedEx not work on Saturdays? I had to have missed something but what is it.

This is all the explanation I could fine on delievry

"Next Day and 2nd Day shipping charges will be automatically calculated at the time of checkout based on the rate table shown below. 99% of expedited orders placed by 12pm noon (EST) ship the same day. We provide tracking numbers with all of our FedEx shipments and will contact the carrier on your behalf should a package become lost in transit. To report a possible missing package just call us at (407)447-RODS (7637), but please allow a reasonable amount of time (5 business days) to pass before reporting it to us. See the Customer Service tab for more info."

This has happened before to me in the past where I put up the extra funds and no next day delivery!

What am I missing here??????

or how can I avoid this in the future?

I've been around the shipping business for several years.

With Fedex, UPS etc Saturday's are always their own special deal

A next day air out friday order is Monday delivery

Saturday is NDA saturday deliver and has a much higher price tag

As I understand it, Fedex express (air) doesn't deliver to residential addresses on Sat.  But they do deliver to businesses if specified.

Fedex ground (freight) does deliver to residences on Sat.

It sucks that you spent the money before you knew the deal.  Lesson learned, I'm sure.

As a side note I always call the vendor before a overnight shipment, to be sure it will go out that day and be delivered the next.

So what your saying is, They don't work Saturdays.

I guess I missed that small print somewhere, sure didn't see it, I understand if they don't deliver on weekends, whished I seen it tho.

they still have no problem taking your money and not telling you ::)

I guess you gotta read all the fine print anymore or learn the harder way.

Oh well, I'll know next time.

Thanks guys. :)

I'll use the call before overnight one Flechero, so I bet you can Guess what I bought ;D

UPS does work Saturdays but we only deliver a specific service. It's called "Saturday next day air",...different than a regular "next day air". I believe it costs about $60-$100 to get an envelope on Saturday.

If it was sent UPS,

Next day air Saturday- by 10:30a Saturday

Next day air Early AM- by 8:30a Monday (big big money)

Next day air- will be there before 10:30-12:00 Monday depending on the "commit" time of your town.

Next day air saver- will be there before the end of the day on Monday.

I assume the sent it "saver" if they said by 7 on Monday

AGAIN with delivery?

So I payed for a three day delivery last friday, here it is Thursday pm and I find out it just left LA to Indiana.

it was USPS-which I knew.  man is it me? I guess I suck at reading the fine print but, if it says 3 day or 10 day delivery why shouldn't I not expect it?

If you chose USPS priority mail.  There is no tracking available with priority except at the time of drop off and at delivery if the seller purchased delivery confirmation AND dropped it off at the PO at the counter.  In other words,  if it just left CA that means the person you bought it from just dropped if off with the USPS.

I found out one thing about USPS.  Mailing priority on a Friday morning can get to it's destination for Monday's delivery.  Had this happen with f_b_l a few weeks ago, and he said he's seen that before out of the post office, where they kick it in gear over the weekend.  I tried this again last week and same results.  Mailed priority on Friday morning and package was delivered in Monday morning mail.  These were 1000 mile jogs.  Priority was cheaper than parcel post also.  The rod was $20 something parcel post and under $10 for priority. :-/

I guess this will all change when they start skipping one day a week.

I've shipped a lot of rods & reels and have also had some pretty incredibly quick delivery times from the post office using priority.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out next time.

As for the delivey I'm being updated thru my paypal account.

I gotta laugh, its funny. Be my luck I'll need an organ and the doc will  tell me its a next day delivery don't worry-and I'll laugh

::)

I never paid extra for faster shipping.  I've been fortunatel enough to not need anything in that much of a hurry.  Good luck on your item.

Delivery times are based on "zones". For example, it would be crazy for me to spend the $ for "next day air" service on a package to Vt. It is 1 zone away which means it will be there in 1 day anyway.

Rates can be very different for the different services so it's worthwhile to take a peak at the zone chart if you know where your item is coming from. The chart below applies to my zip code, for yours, type your zip code in the box found HERE

Another example. Florida is 2 zones away, 3 days max. Paying for "3-day select" service is again, pointless.
