In high school we had a 300lb. club. Only 4 out of about 1400 students belonged. I was 5'11" and 190lbs. Most I ever got was 340. Could rep 300 about 4 times. Now, 26 years later, I am about 240lbs., built like a weight lifter but, my joints and other body parts are killing me. Work out only for maintenance of health and shape. Whenever I travel for work,  I go to the little work out room.  I can bench whatever the entire stack is just to see if I can do it.  Whatever you do while lifting, do it properly. It'll pay off in the end.
