Looking for ideas

Featured Replies

My wife has joined the board at our local pre-school. Each year in the town I live there is a small festival and the preschool uses that time for a fundraising activity (as do many other organizations). The last few years they have spent a ton of money with very little results. They are brainstorming right now so I thought I would ask and see if anyone else has good ideas. I think they are targeting the kids since they are a preschool, but other ideas would be great. Most definitely has to be family oriented. Looking for something that is less costly to maximize the revenue generated. If you have ideas thanks.

Have a fish fry, $7 a plate.  Catch a couple hundred BASS and fry'em up with hush puppies, coleslaw and beans.

HAHA, please don't use the Bass.

If you live near the ocean then sandperch, baracuda, make very good table food.

Great idea, just going to be competing with the local fireman as they have a chicken fry.  Keep em coming.

If there a farm pond in area, could I suggest kiddie tournament in the pond? See if you can talk the farm owner into letting each fish harvest a proportion of money goes back to preschool. Let the farmer know it can be consider charity and he can receive a higher tax refund for this. It never hurts to introduce kids to fishing. :)

Or you can host a fishing tournament on big lake and have 50% of donation go towards preschool fund. Have some sponsors to help out with prizes and put up some of entry fees toward purse and remaining can go toward preschool. While hosting the tournament you can have the $7.00 a plate BBQ or something for fishermen after the tournament.

May I suggest checking with other private schools in your area and find out what they do for fundraisers to obtain some ideas?

Bake sales, car washes, flea market where you get a set amount per table, and anything the parents and grandparents can make to donate so you can sell it.

Just some suggestions.

Good luck.  :)

One of the funnest fund raisers I have ever participated in was this:

Get a wrecking yard to donate a wrecked car and transportation of it to and from the event site.

Have a sledgehammer and a baseball bat.

Charge people 2 dollars for 5 swings and let them beat the car to hell.

Have a fish fry, $7 a plate. Catch a couple hundred BASS and fry'em up with hush puppies, coleslaw and beans.

HAHA, please don't use the Bass.

Jesus, Doug. I thought you were about to start a war on this site! Glad I read it all. :D

Better yet, take it to a mental health building..I'm sure there is a group of people in there with anger management issues that are willing donate few bucks to beat the hell out of a car.

Thanks for the ideas, keep the coming if you have them.  I am trying to talk the wife into the car smashing one.  It would be appropriate since this is a fireman's festival and they do demonstrations with the jaws of life and such.
