Need opinion on an eBay issue

Featured Replies

I'm not sure what to do about this. I have bought countless items off eBay and never had anything go wrong until now.

To make a long story short, I bought something over $150 from this seller and was extremely happy with it. I decided to place 2 more orders and the 2nd order came before the first. It's been over a month now and I still haven't received my item yet.

I'm not sure what to do because this seller is great and has kept communication with me all the way. I don't want to tick him/her off because I want to make future orders, but at the same time, I don't want to just lose $50. So what do I do? If I decide to file a claim, how do I do it? I paid with PayPal.

There should be a tracking number...  if not, it probably never shipped.

Ask him to track it.  If it never shipped, ask for a refund. (or ask when it will ship)

Just be nice, if the guy had no intention of ripping you off, he'll want to know that the item never arrived.  If he wanted to rip you of, then a claim isn't a big deal.

just be cool about it all and don't make any assumptions.

just ask him where it is or if he sent it.

I buy ans sell on Ebay.  If I don't receive my item within 10 days I ask the seller for a tracking #.  If he won't provide one I file a dispute claim with PayPal.  I have never lost a dispute claim and have filed several.

Sound advice there.

You want a friend or you want your stuff/money?

If you've waited a month you've waited way too long.  If the seller shipped within a couple business days and used anything resembling Priority mail, UPS or Fed Ex, it should have been there.  In the case of USPS, he/she should've used a delivery confirmation number.  Not a tracking number but it will sometimes get scanned at regional transfer hubs and definitely get scanned when it gets delivered.

UPS and Fed Ex have automatic tracking with their service.  If they can't provide anything you need to file a claim.

Okay, I am going to ask the seller what has happened to my package and then I will file a claim. Do I file a claim at eBay or PayPal? Can anyone give me a quick guide on how to do so. Thank you very much for all the advice.

OOps.  I see you're in Canada.  If the seller was in the US that can throw a wrench into things.  If the item was large enough to be required to go through customs, that has been known to delay things.

Contact the seller and find out what's going on.  Get any tracking numbers and the number off the customs form if one was used.

I have ordered items from Canada and had them take over a month to arrive.  The tracking issues are very hard in cross country transactions as well.  He probably didn't put a tracking order on it as its about 10 bucks extra if I remember correctly.

I used to sell to buyers out of the US but it just took way too long for the item to be delivered so now I only ship the US.  A month does seem like a long time to get an item.  I'd probably file a dispute also.

Here's an update. We worked things out and the seller decided to give me a refund so hopefully I will get it within 2 days. That way, I don't have to file a dispute.
