This has been on the table for a while and no President has authorized it.

Seems we can't stop them from growing the poppies so we will pay them not to grow them, with the hope that they will take up normal farming.

And yes, cows do fly.  :D

I should know more about this but I just can' remember right now.  Didn't Pres. Nixon do something with the poppy fields back in the 70's that worked quite well?

i dunno.

they pay cotton farmers to not plant cotton.

makes sense to me. :D

Indeed, they also paid dairy farmers to kill their cows or export them in the 80s. They also told American farmers to set-aside their land and do not farm on it. They also set the price of commodity above the market equilibrium price and when farmers couldn't sell all the product, the government bought them. The only perfect competition industry left in America the government subsidizes it. :)

Yeah, it nothing new.  :) Call me when something new is reported.

I am not sure if the land in Afghanistan is able to produce other crops. They need to make money some way and I'm not sure they know or are capable of doing it in other ways right now. Hopefully that will change soon.

They ARE doing it and DON'T call me Shirley...........

Sorry couldn't resist. Love the movie Airplane. ;)

;D the yellow zone is for pick up only ;D
