reckon where those one first-place votes for oklahoma and usc came from? :D

mcnutt and ole miss may field a good team this year but, imo, they've got a long row to hoe in the sec before cracking the top ten.

it can be done but, they'll sure as heck have to bring all their marbles.

The Big Ten was supposed to be weak and they got 2 in the top ten.  I hope Penn State don't choke this year.

The most worthless poll ....

Why is VT in there?

Why is VT in there?

My thoughts exactly, other than the fact that they are one of if not the best team in the ACC. Which in the last couple of years, hasn't been much of a conference.

I am with you on hoping they don't choke. Lets see if we can keep the program clean this year. Going to be hard being that we are the #1 party school in the country!

Why is VT in there?

Same reason LSU is??

Why is VT in there?

Just watch and you'll see why. Starting with Alabama.

Apparently we are seeing something different.

LOL! Imagine that. A SEC homer hating on another conference.  ;D

I'd be embarrassed to say I'm from TN and mention the SEC in the same post if I were him.

;D

According to who?

Oh, and don't get me wrong, I'd love to see VT up there but I don't think the ACC has been very good lately so I don't think winning the conference should get you in the top 10.

It's cool, I fixed it.

Penn State choking, what about the darn Sooners?  Play great all year and get smacked around in the BCS championship repeatedly!

Later, :)

The most worthless poll ....

They are all worthless until every team gets three or four games under their belts.

Polls are fun and make the games exciting for the fans.

It is very interesting to see who will rise and fall, and if there are any "sleepers" out there, ready to jump into the top ten.

The good news is that for anyone who is a Tulane athletic supporter, you don't have to worry about the Green Weenies either entering the poll or falling out of it.  :)

Keep in mind these polls show where teams are at the start of the season not the end ;)

That Nutt down in Mississippi may not have a national contender but he is always good at spoiling your hopes; so does that Ole Ball Coach.

  • Super User

The ole ball coach hasn't shown much in 4 years.  His recruits have had plenty of time to show up in his program.   I'm starting to see it may have been the players and not so much the systems at Florida. ;)

4 years at USC, 15-17 in conf. play, 3 bowls, 1-2, one 8 win season.

McNutt is the one to watch out for. ;), He may be the one to beat from the SEC this year.

don't forget about Nebraska i don't think that we should be in the top ten but i think were going to have a good year so look out

Really?  Just look at the 2004 Auburn team.  The finished the season undefeated, yet didn't get a chance to play for the MNC.  Why not?  Because they started the season at the bottom of the barrel.

Preseason rankings do a disservice to every team other than those chosen and hyped by the media.

Burley is right.

You want your team as high as possible at the beginning of the year since it is very hard for a team to climb in the polls if they are ranked low or unranked.

An early season loss is not as devastating to a higher ranked team as opposed to a lower ranked team, or a loss in the last half of the season.  :)
