Lightning Can Kill

From the G.Loomis e-mail I received:

WARNING - Lightning Can Kill...........................

In our usual emails containing fishing pictures we got a very sad and troubling one containing pictures of a boat struck by lightning recently.

This happened two weeks ago on Lake Charles in Louisiana.

One person was killed, one severely injured.

This was a small storm that came up on them before they could haul anchor. And they were in an aluminum jon boat which burned.

We're by no means trying to scare anyone, but we just want you to see that lightning can do some serious damage and it's not worth losing your life trying to get in that "one last cast".

Be storm smart and head for shore when weather threatens.

Your family and friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Just words for the wise.  :)

Yeah it is scary stuff.  I had two relatives killed by the same bolt of lightning in West Virginia.

Yeah, it is deadly. 2 members of my family have been struck by lightning and luckily neither had died. But I was with some friends on a golf course many years ago when a storm came up. One of them was near a tree that was struck and he had died from the bolt. Thanks for sharing Sam.

No doubt. When you see the lightning its best to get to shore.Tie up the boat and wait for it to stop.Once its past you can always go back out.
