Just ordered the quickswirl lure removal "device".  It was in BassMaster this past edition, looks cool, and thought I'd check it our.  It allows you to remove (they say) crankbaits, etc...with a swirl, and then put a new one on.  We shall see.  if you want to see it, visit

I suppose it will probably work, but if I were inclined to use something like this, I would probably use a snap swivel instead since it is completely enclosed.  But since I don't use snap swivels, I won't be using this device either.  The fewer pieces of tackle between me and the fish, the better.   Just my opinion.  Good luck, and hope it works well for you.  Let us know how it goes.

It's hard to comment on something that's never been tried.

That's why I spent a whole $10.00 to try it out.  We'll see next weekend...I guess.  My goal is a 5 lb'er  would be a personal best...let's see if the "quickswirl" will make it happen!!!!

No problems...I am a bit curious myself...just know it's a pain to untie, and re-tie, etc....who knows....I may come back, tell all here it's awesome, and they'll sell out in a few days.....well let's catch one fish first!

So that's what they are called - I saw that in the magazine and told a couple of my buddies about it, but couldn't find the magazine again.  I may put in an order as well.  Looks like they would be especially good for changing up crank baits.  Thanks for the link and keep us all posted.

I fish cranks on norman speed clips and they can be tricky sometimes.  On average, a lot less hassle than cutting and retying + the increased action.  I hope they work well for you, it's nice to see people still coming up with practical innovations in a tough industry.  Who knows, they might be the next "thing" in their genre.

We'll see.  Again, I am a marketers dream ( I can admit it...any of you guys?).  If I catch a 5 lb. largemouth, you know what the review will be...right?

I have some pics to post, but need to convert.  The Quickswirl worked great,  a few issues, but I will buy more, and used one all three and a half days.  As far as terminal taclke goes, tying the crank to the line...is old news, I changed from a crank to topwater, in just a few seconds.  I could uses a snap swivel, but the one's I bought (Quickswirl) had a nice swivel system that allowed it to move in all directions. Caught Largies, Walleye, and Smallies on it.  AWESOME!!!!

Did you retie at all ?

I had to re-tie a few times, due to rats nests, but other than that, no.

Here's a bass on a brush hog, I have to resize others for the Quickswirl...be back with them.

**** My goal for the trip was a 5lber. This one kept going back and forth on the scale from 4lb. 15 oz, and 5 lb 3oz. I will call it a 5lber!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing worked great...I have never used swivels, so I can't compare, but did like the way it worked.  Some baits had a bit of a large o-ring, which made the getting on a bit tougher, but had no trouble casting, or anything.  Once in a great while, the hook would catch the swirl, but very minimal.

Won't be up there again till next year, but will be fishing down at the Chesapeake for my next Fishers of Men Tournament in July...we shall see!  I had a crankbait epihany this weekend...never caught many until now, and have come to realize the importance of the crankbait as a tool in the arsenal!

Are these new? I have used something like this for a couple years now on Lake Michigan. They were on dodgers and flashers for quick fly changes. They do work. Never used one on a crankbait or anything.

Used for 2 days straight on crankbaits, and was a breeze to change lures.  If they are not new, it's new to me.  I bought 10 before the trip, and have 10 left.  No toothy critters bit me off...luckily!
