Oh come on, I bought 3 licenses that last for 2 years each of BitDefender for $30...Just look around. You just aren't going to get the same kind of protection with free programs as you will with programs you buy.

I know Glenn uses PC-Cillin, as does my dad. It is very highly rated. So are BitDefender, Kaspersky, and ESET's NOD32...

As far as I know, all have very good detection rates but NOD32 uses the least system resources (it is also the most expensive from what I've seen)

I Just don't have the money right now Dan :P I have to get pass December then recover in January and I don't use Credit cards.

Looken for a free version right now, I bought license to prevent, I have always rode on a free Virus protection, Its now I see AVG uped the annie on spyware and scanning that I believe Glenn was pointing out that is running against my ZApro causing the issue.

Im planning to change up all of it in March or April

Easiest and most effective thing to do is create a non-admin account and use it. Anything which gets downloaded runs under the permissions of the user who is logged in. I do cyber security for a living, honestly I don't run any AV by doing this and being behind the firewall built into my wireless router.

see if I  got this correct, I make a non-administer account, log on to it always when I browse the web? Then my ZApro and Advance system care is enough? Then I won't need a AV?

this way it always will ask me if something wants to download??

If this is the case, I thought I relied on ZApro for this, it will always ask me if I want to do something contrary.

I'll stop here to see if Im on the right page?

Essentially yes you are on the right path, although some will argue with me about this one. Without admin rights to load and run things the malware cannot run what it needs to in order to infect your pc.

One caveat is I do run Firefox with a plug-in called No-Script which blocks any scripts from running without me approving it. Takes a little surfing time to get setup but works very well.

While nothing is 100% secure with computers I have run this way for 4-5 years with 0 infections.

I gotcha. I would offer one of my spare BitDefender licenses but I think it ties in with some of my private billing info. Good luck solving the problem.
