This is a little hard to believe but it sounds as though it's already a done deal, just waiting on an announcement.

Why in heck would Pete leave the best college football head coaching position in the nation to coach the Seahawks? (No offense Glenn)

USC-West is gonna get donkey punched by the NCAA.

Pete did not fair well last time he was in the NFL, his record was not that good.  I wonder how he will do this time if he signs with Seattle.

I think the NCAA is about to put the beat down on that program. McNight didn't play in the bowl game. I think there is a lot more details to come out from that story. Can't blame the guy, get out while the gettin' is good.

The McKnight incident isn't really what is going to bring the thunder.  All of their dealings with Reggie Bush is the true haymaker.

True. Plus the basketball program is already under the microscope from the OJ Mayo drama...that certainly isn't going to help anything.

The university has already self-imposed several sanctions due to the Mayo improprieties.  Regardless, that would have no bearing on any penalties the NCAA levied on the USC football program.

McFumbles is a problem. Glad he went to the University of Spoiled Children and not LSU.

I am surprised by the news.

Maybe Nickie Satan will go to USC for a dollar more than he makes at Bama.  :)

33 and 31 isn't so bad in the NFL.

Yeah, that's not that bad a record. It could be better of course, but it's still a winning record.

This ticks me off if it's true.

These coaches in the NCAA need to have sanctions placed upon THEM, if they leave a school that is penalized for infractions that occur while the coach is there.

The Kentucky Basketball coach comes to mind.

Calipari sticks around until the NCCA is all over the school then bails for another school.

This Pete Carrol thing, if true is just another example.

Being a Notre Dame fan I hate USC of course. The sucky thing is that one Carrol leaves and USC takes a sharp decline it will be because they lost Carrol......In reality it will be the to the letter recruiting they will have to do because of the microscope on them.

Wow shocker to me

IMO College football programs need to take a page from NCAA basketball.  As a coach you should be required to finish your contract before you leave, not to mention speak to a recruit or player about switching schools.

Brian Kelly is a good example of this, he left CMU for Cincy, then to NOtre Dame.

Carroll should have to stay.  If he is implicated in a scandle then tough luck buddy.

These coaches bailing on schools to stay out of trouble or leaving for more money is setting a very poor message to the players and students.  Of course, its all about the Benjamins, right?

And the offending players (Derrick Rose, Chris Webb, OJ Mayo, Reggie Bush, McFumbles, etc...) go on to multi-million dollar pro careers while those left behind get stuck with the mess.

The idea that you can have a multi-billion dollar industry whose success depends on unpaid 18 year olds, many from the wrong side of the tracks, and not have it be crooked is naive, and just a little bit silly.

While I'm ecstatic they fired Mora, I'm not thrilled with their replacement pick.  After the Erickson fiasco, I'm not inclined to have another college coach lead the 'Hawks. Even though Carroll has some NFL experience, his record is not worth getting excited about.

I'm a college football fan, but as a disclaimer a Notre Dame fan too. But I'll still say this....

One thing about ND, they are by the book, and the kids stay clean. AND graduate.

As a fan and not a student sure, winning means more. But that stuff still matters to me. I also have great respect for other schools who graduate at a high rate, ESPECIALLY those with a successful program. Stanford, Boston College, Northwestern. Are they the best schools? No. But they make bowl games and aren't terrible.

This was a reason I liked IU basketball. Bob Knight might have been an ***, but those kids weren't pulled over with guns in their car, or passed out at stop lights, or gouging people in the eyes etc. And they graduated.

Sad thing is basketball players have moved away from that respectability so far, that he just didn't fit in anymore.

I[ch8217]m with Glenn on this one. Just not all that excited. :-/ I[ch8217]d rather see them go for Bill Cowher.

I think Cower will get offers from better franchises.

Cowher isn't that stupid.  Holmgren was because Seattle was the first to offer the farm, house and barn.

And that's why he's in Cleveland now? Because Holmgren is stupid, or greedy, or both?

I just always imagined that's where my fellow fat people go. :D BTW what's Holmgrem ever done with out Farve?

cowher's waiting for wade to trip up.

that said, cowher and jerrah would never work out.

Cowher will be coaching Carolina in 2011.
