is hunting with a AR or m16 cheating?

Featured Replies

first off the bullet leaves the barrel ar around 3200-3600 fps which is much faster then most hunting rifles ive seen, second it would probably go through the deer which means you have the chance to hit someone in the distance.

Only if you hit him in the ear ;)

is useing the black rifle for deer hunting cheating? because i want one, but alot of people dont like the idea of "going rambo" on a deer. i dont think its cheating, but im not sure if it's right.

For one thing, if you do not know the difference between an AR-type rifle and an M16/M4, I suggest you make a trip to AR15.com.

As for your question, I can only answer with a ::)

In VA, there is no magazine capacity restrictions.  The regulation of concern is the following.

Rifles used for deer or bear must be .23 caliber or larger.

alot of people dont like the idea of a assault rifle in the woods, and a ar15 or m16 is a assault rifle, no matter the mag capacity.

The AR15 is not an 'assault rifle'.   ::)

An assault rifle is loosely defined as a selective fire rifle designed for combat.

Slogging deeper into the swamp of FAIL.

honesty, we have an ar-15 from stag arms. i would never shoot it at a dear. first off the bullet leaves the barrel ar around 3200-3600 fps which is much faster then most hunting rifles ive seen, second it would probably go through the deer which means you have the chance to hit someone in the distance. and finaly its just not meant to be hunted with its meant for military use and police use.

Oh good Lord... ;D

Burley, just take a deep breath.

burleytog, when we bought our AR-15 under law it was defined as an assault rifle and due to this we had to go through a slightly more screening process before we could purchase it.

Yes, I'm familiar with VA law regarding the purchase of what a politician considers an 'assault rifle'.

The 'slightly more screening process' is a requirement for proof of citizenship.  Nothing more, nothing less.

ya, its a great rifle.

Funny how no one pointed out that the OP lists his age at only 15 years old.

This means one of two things:

1. He is not able to buy this firearm, period.

2. Someone older than he is stupid enough to purchase and give it to him with a loaded magazine.

I seem to recall the "Carry while fishing" thread where he said to carry a Colt 45. ::)

haha very good find speed.
