this is one of two hawks that come by our bird feeders every once and a while. One of them buzzed me one time, couldn't have been more than  10 ft from my head.

Good picture, that's also the way it is at our house. The bird feeder is like a fast food joint for the hawks.

That reminds me of when I saw a Hawk take down a Seagull in a Biscuitville parking lot.

I was mowing the lawn a couple years ago and had a falcon take a robin about 10  feet from me.  An exploision of feathers.  It tried to fly off with the robin and could only make it about 10 yards with each flight.

Took it about 10 tries to make it about 100 yards to the woods.  Very cool.

Exactly Brian except the Robin was on the ground.  Looked like a ground mine went off.

That's hilarious because that is the exact thing that came to my mind as I read down the post.

Dan,

I have to come over and shoot in your back yard. I would love to get some pics of him.

he comes around every once and a while. We also have a fox  as well. Pretty strange for being inside the beltway...

that's pretty cool to have a hawk in your yard. I only get little birds and pigeons

Today we had what looked to be a peregrine falcon ****** another bird from the birdfeeder. He got one in my neighbors yard a couple hours earlier also. I tried to get some pics but he took off with his lunch when I opened the door.

We also had a little bird fly into the sliding glass door. I heard a loud thump and went and found a bird who was "knocked the f*#& out!" laying on my deck. I went back to check on him later and I guess I spooked him because he took off when I got close to the door.

I hope he wasn't the one that the falcon got...

There was a pair of bald eagles perched on a tree on Sunday off the parkway when Mud and I went out. There were a couple of cars pulled to the side to take pictures. Would have made a nice shot

Every year I've been going to 4mr, I've seen a hawk pluck a duck from the water and basicly swim it to the bank. Awsome bit of the food chain right in front of you!!
