Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Featured Replies

Has anyone on here worked for them? I applied for a part time job because I'm in college and need some cash for the weekends. It sounded easy enough:washing cars, changing tires, driving cars. I was looking around on the internet and there is a website http://failingenterprise.com/ full of people who talk about how horrible it is. Can washing cars a few hours a week be that bad?

I wouldn't let that kind of feedback stop you.  Give it a try and see for yourself.  It probably depends a lot on the specific location where you'd be working.  The people at the car rental center in Vegas always seem like they are having a good time!!

you can find a group of people that hate any job. Washing cars for a few hours can't be that bad, though I have no expierence

My dad used to own his own dealership and I washed cars for him. A buddy's dad owns a dealership and occasionally I help him out. It can't be that terrible to wash cars...I guess when you have that many employees some of them are gonna be unhappy. Thanks for the quick responses guys!

you can look up almost any big company out there and find plenty of people that are not happy. such is life. but, that's about the lamest site i've ever seen.

I never worked for Enterprise, but I did wash cars for Avis for over three years then again for Advantage(no longer in business) for just under a year.  It isn't all that bad however it can involve much more than washing cars.  Taking cars for maintenance, getting the counter agents lunch(not usually allowed to leave) and any other number of errands that need to be run.  And let me tell you some of those cars get NASTY!!!  You wouldn't believe how disgusting some people are, makes you wonder if they treat THEIR car that way.  We had some so bad we would take them to a pro detailer then charge the customer for the bill.  But the upside is you get to tool around in all the newest model cars.  And its a rental so you have drive it very fast and do alot of e-brake skids!!!  try it out, it isn't terrible.

Haha thanks Cliff.  The job description includes changing tires and that kind of stuff, which is no biggie. Ive done it before, but it said something about stain removal. I'm afraid of what kind of stains I would be removing.

All of your pre - career jobs are supposed to suck. It builds character  ;D They give you the incentive to succeed so you don't have to do it the rest of your life......

You will encounter some "unknown" stains, however the worst thing to remove is dog hair.  Vacuum won't get it, the best way, kinda nasty but works, is to wet your hands and just rub it all into a ball.

Hahaha ya that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the listing online. What a funny movie.

I worked for a couple car rental agencies in Buffalo, NY through college. Worked the desk, cleaned cars, moved them when needed, etc. It was alright. Some of those cars got nasty, some got shot, some had needles, some were fine. Had 1 that was confiscated cause the police thought it was used to transport a dead body. Washing, you generally have limited interaction with the public. As long as the folks you work with are alright, you will be alright. Same as any place ya work I guess.

I echo what other's have said about there always being folks out there who hate a particular company or job, no matter how great the company.

Enterprise is based here in St. Louis and has an excellent reputation as a company people want to work for.  My best friend has been with them for 18 years and has done extremely well for himself.  He helped my nephew get a job there right out of college a couple years ago and my nephew has already progressed up a couple levels.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Tom

Also need to remember that many of these people expect to sit on their butt doing nothing, and when they get a boss that actually makes them work for their paycheck, they throw a fit and call it a terrible job (and usually quit).

I have worked with plenty of these types through the past 20 years, better to ignore them.

I do have a friend working for them as a rental agent right now in SD and he says they are a great company to work for.
