New pending world record peacock bass caught!

It was bound to happen sooner or later.  Although I feel it's really not 'the' record.  In conversations over dinner with Larry Dahlberg an his wife Maryann I know for a fact that he has caught peacocks over 30 lbs but simply won't register any of his world record catches...

Regardless, this is a big fish.  :)

Truly a trophy. ; ;D

The guy in Japan stated he had caught some LMB larger than the record tying one he got publicity for...so they are out there :D

Woooow that is huge!

I read that on another site Robert and instantly thought of you. There's a pretty good video of Casey Ashley fishing for peacocks on the Costa Del Mar Channel as well.

Can you imagine that topwater explosion. I bet that was extremely violent.

nevermind. Maybe i should read before i comment.

Haha. Pitchinkid, my first reactions were like yours. I was a little disappointed after reading. I still bet it was one heck of a fight.

Fish that big don't jump.  They dig down, and strip line off your reel as if it had no drag.  I'll bet it was one hell of a ride. :)

I bet a fish that big slurping down a woodchopper still sounded like a high flow toilet flushing.

That is one of the best produced brazil fishing videos I've ever seen.  Totally gives you a real view of what it's like to fish down there.

Seeing the Skol beer brought back some great memories.  ;D

I knew you'd like it. Thanks for posting that link. Really makes me want to start saving up for a trip

Man, what a fish!  That thing is huge.

Seriously, if you love bass fishing (and adventure) you owe it to yourself to make the journey to the Amazon at least once in your life. It took us three-plus days to get to the fish, but once you get there, it's just unreal.

On every single cast I expected a monster to just explode, and the biggest fish we hooked never made it in the film. It ran 100 yards in about five seconds, wrapping Casey around a tree and breaking him off. Our guides said it was easily a 25-pound fish.

To any interested in the trip, feel free to PM me with questions. Choosing the right company and guides is key to having a great trip, and I'll gladly hook anyone up with the folks who took us fishing.

It was an epic experience.

Stephen are you with Costa?  Or did you shoot the footage?  I'm curious as to which group you went down there with.

Both, actually. I'm an independent filmmaker, and Costa hires me to make films about fishing and adventure. (A great gig for a guy who loves both.)

So everything you see in the video was shot, edited and narrated by me. In fact, I had 50 hours of footage in total, all of which got boiled down to the 17-plus minutes you see.
