I picked up a cheap corn cob pipe and was wondering if you guys ever smoke pipes while fishing? If so what tobacco do you like?

just go to the tobacco store and smell the jars. Pick whichever one smells the best until you figure out which one you like the best.

Can't advise you regarding tobacco, but you might think about changing your screen name to Popeye.

Give Borkum Riff Genuine a whirl.  It probably doesn't tamp as well as peanut butter, but who knows.  ;D

Find a pipe/cigar store near you and try some of their bulk tobaccos. They should be able to steer you toward something suitable.  Flavored tobaccos generally are fairly mild but will tend to leave more residue in your pipe. Experiment!

One of my personal favorite "cheap" pipe tobaccos is Captain Black Royal (comes in a dark blue pouch). It's readily available, burns well, tastes pretty good, and smells fantastic. 

Yep, it was or is still made by Lane Ltd, who made many of the bulk tobaccos I used to sell.  Their 1-Q was very similar and my top seller. 

You can't beat some good old Half and Half for everyday enjoyment.

I smoked normal ciggs for 15 years and quit a few months ago. Occasionally I will have a cigar and usually it is a Black and Mild that uses pipe tobacco. even now several months later I notice if I inhale it kills my lungs... so it is more for the action than anything since I did it so long.

I was recently in Spain and picked up some borkum riff cherry, i have been pleased.
