Aftermarket laptop chargers

Featured Replies

Does anybody use a non-OEM AC adapter for their laptop? Mine crapped out on me recently (had a short in the wire & burned through the insulation) so I need a new one. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A105. I went to Toshiba's website and they want $90 for a new one, and the reviews are pretty negative. I went to ebay and there are lots of aftermarket ones available from $10-$15. Will one of these be fine? are there any sellers or manufacturers that are either recommended or that I should steer clear of?

I am using an aftermarket charger for my Dell D630, and it is still running after 10 months.

I always try to find oem parts for my laptop when I need them. They are available on ebay you just have to search for the oem ones.

I have had aftermarket chargers melt on me, but I buy really cheap ones from China.

had one for a Sony Vaio that I got from Hong Kong for $8, worked for about a month then started sparking from the box.  Spent $30 on a Targus and have been using it for 3 years, don't go cheap.  I'd rather spend a few bucks more for a charger that works instead of $500+ for a new laptop because you went cheap on a charger.
